Trouble is I have been out of work for 4 months now and things are getting desperate. Time to go door knocking!
If you had started doing that four months ago, you’d probably have a job now. Turning up in person shows you are keen and willing to make a bit of effort to get a job. How are you going stand out from the crowd over the phone? You’re not.
Go and see as many organ grinders as possible and say “gis a job mister”. It needs to be the organ grinder though, it won’t work with the monkeys. If the monkey won’t let you speak to the organ grinder you need to keep pestering the monkey until it cracks and allows you access to the organ grinder.
This approach worked for me… but then I am incredibly good looking and charming so I can’t make any promises for you.
Thanks people managed to get a permanant job today! Turns out my neighbour is a group transport manager for a nationwide firm! Thanks for all your help and support (most of you )!!

As another member said go out and knock on doors phone calls do not work you are just a voice on the end of the phone and bosses get fed up with cold calls " Hello there just ringing to see what the job situation is ? ". make a flask and sanwiches and have a drive round / look in yellow pages and make a list look tidy , but not too smart , Ask to see the guy in charge you will get a lot of " Sorry Mate bit quiet at the mo " , but still ask if you can still leave your details in case something pops up . Its not easy , but it can work out just stick with it . Like they say if you throw enough s**t at the wall some of it will stick . Good Luck.

Every company I have tried are saying I need 2 years experince. I have said to them at interview and on the phone I am more than willing to take a pay cut to cover the extra insurance premiums, & that although I dont have the 2 years their asking for, I haven’t picked up any bad habbits or attitudes and I am very keen to learn and get a start.
You also haven’t learned how to load a vehicle, do up curtains, work a tail lift, get a forkie to tip you when its 10 minutes from mugga…
