Shunt Button

Dunno then?:
The Shunt button is used for …shunting, :open_mouth:
How hard can it be?

no its not its to start the nuclear holocaust

Heres a quick question for you
How many of you know how to release the brakes in the event of the actual brake cylinders failing (air leak) ?
We dont have shunt buttons or parking brakes on our trailers here on this side of the pond

Easy, call the garage and get a fitter out

There is enough power inside this air brake actuator, / brake chamber to knock your teeth out at least, so unless you do understand how they work, don’t be tempted to wind the brakes off. The spring is compressed by turning the long bolt at the unseen end of the image.

Actually there is enough power to decapitate you, this will kill you stone dead if mishandled or develops a fault while your in the immediate vicinity.

I did some work this week for a well known DIY company.

The company runs some fridges for their gardening products. When your using a fridge there is defo no room to get on the footplate to connect the leads and the policy as explained to me by the trainer is a strict no close coupling or your out.

The solution (their solution) is to “crank couple”

Get under the trailer as normal, activate the shunt button, pull forward for space and then turn the waggon sharply away from the trailer (on steps side of the footplate), then step out and connect the now exposed lines, shunt button pops back Simples innit!!!

Did it today and it works lovely  after youve spent 1/2hr untangling the greasy lines from the last prat that used it. :imp:
