Why would Ford call a hideous thing like that a ‘‘Capri’’ given the style of previous models since the 60s.
As for the electric,…nah, each to his own but not for me personally.
If they were that good and revolutionary they would sell themselves without a government agenda based incentive to push them out.
And as for new cars,.I’d prefer to buy one a year old or an ex demo, let somebody else take the initial loss,.and you still get a good warranty.
Apart from that I just buy older cars that are in good condition and maintained, that my lad puts me on to.
Gone are the days when a car was knackered cos it had 80000 on the clock,.and I aint interested in keeping up with the Jonses.
Not saying you are either Ady btw… we all have different opinions.
I had a couple of Capris,.I traded in my old Mini for a 1300 only cos it was cheap and it had reclining seats …great for horizontal activities in a lonely area but slow as ■■■■.
I later had a 3 litre which I had to sell before I killed myself in it.
Yep agree, let those names stay in history when they had their heyday, I had Cortina’s, Escort’s, Capris & Granada’s back in the day & loved them.
Trying to revive names of old just doesn’t really work, Today’s demography of EV buyers wouldn’t know a Capri from an Escort. The new Capri is a Ford Explorer with a few body tweaks 7 the Ford Mach-e is no way a Mustang, either.
It’s the legacy brands EV manufacturers that have lobbied governments hard for these grants, They’re up $h** creek without them, The emission regulations have been relaxed for two years to help them out, but the mandatory regulations still stand, A large amount of EV sales in the last two months have been legacy auto buying them themselves as pre-registered cars to make their EV sales look better as they are woefully behind their mandatory 22% of all car sales must be electric.
It’s a stop gap/loophole thing that will come back to bite them in the backside in 2027 as their EV offerings are way too expensive & lacking compared to Chinese EVs.
BYD sales soar in the UK, Up 880% & the UK is now their biggest market outside of China. Their sales are also well up over 200% across Europe, yet some legacy plants are either paused, shuttered or workers laid off.
Trouble in’t mill for electric Jesus! There have been some troubling reports today that a significant number of 2021 Tesla model 3 & 2021 Tesla model Y cars sold in South Korea have battery traction pack problems that will limit speed & charging by 50%. 4500 of these cars & counting have come to light & the thing is they’re manufactured in Gigafactory Shanghai, the same plant that UK/EU Tesla cars come from. It’s unknown yet if it was a certain batch of cars that were exported to South Korea or for worldwide export.
Lights on car went off on way to work ( dipped headlights ) , couldn’t see a thing , had to put on fog lights , checked bulbs ( fine ) , checked manual / Google & apparently there’s no fuse for dipped headlights , running out of ideas , luckily car is under warranty so will have to pop it in
, I checked bulbs and they looked fine , lad across road came over chatting & he said I know it’s unlikely but could both bulbs have gone at same time ? No I’ve checked them and there fine , he looked into headlight and said you can see that bulbs gone , and looking at the other said that looks gone !!! , changed them and fine
Not very well md obviously , I looked through the headlight lense , obviously eye sight isn’t as good as I thought though wife looked and she thought they were ok as well
I think two bulbs going at the same time ( never had 2 go before ) kinda of convinced me the issue was else where , if it was one bulb I’d of probably took it out and looked
