It’s not all about the money. If the gear is good, you enjoy the work and you have the opportunity to get the hours to earn enough, there’s not much wrong with that.
Grass is always greener but still a ■■■■■ to cut
And good gear doesn’t pay the bills.
Ken.
The grass is greener because its been fertilized with Bull Sh*t !!
The only person you have to please is yourself. If you’re happy with the job, pay & conditions then it’s nobody else’s business. Look around by all means just remember, the next job has to be better, a lot better, than the one you have now otherwise you’re wasting your time. There will be plenty on here that have wished they stayed put at one time or another. As others have indicated, you can’t spend a nice sparkly truck.
You’re working 15-20hrs a week more than me with 4+ nights out, for the same money.
I’d keep looking.

conor, your job sounds like hell. Sitting on a bay more than 30 minutes? Slit my wrists instead.
Not driven for a few years but did a lot on fridges. The Tesco RDC at Crick was known as the Bermuda Triangle as trucks would enter but never leave. It wasn’t uncommon to spend 4 or 5 hrs on a bay whilst one of your pallets continued going round and round and round on their stupid automated system because the barcode on the sticker couldn’t be read.

Who do you work for?

This is the wisest comment on here.
I was getting £27 per night out, 12 years ago.
What is the average rate now?

Between 20 and 25, although I was offered a job about 6mths ago paying 17 night out money - rest of the wages weren’t up to much either…
Sounds like a Clash number.
Hours look toppy but it’s not bad take home. To my mind if you’re out all week tramping take home is king you’re not going to get some magical new social life suddenly on less hours.

Working 60+ hours every week over the reference period is bent.No it isn’t. It doesn’t include PoA or breaks. I drive an hour to a RDC, sit on a loading bay for 11hrs, 10 of those on PoA, drive an hour back and finish, do that 6 days totalling 78hrs and for the purposes of the WTD I’d have only worked 18hrs that week.
He knows all this, I’ve pointed it out to him several times, but he still keeps on peddling this bull ■■■■. Once you get a reputation as a bull ■■■■■ er it’s hard to shift.
