Shiny truck - not the company image!

So what has this acheived for the company?

At least one very de-motivated employee.

Ok if some of the stuff on the truck was OTT and didn’t fit in with a corperate image, maybe telling the driver could have been handled a bit different.

Personally I don’t really understand all this slagging the driver off, it’s his money what’s it to anybody here what he spent it on. Maybe some might think you are knobs for spending your money on things you like.

Why do some drivers knock those of us that take pride in the kit. Do we knock you lot that drive around looking like you’ve had the motor dragged out of a ditch. And what’s the problem with spending money on the truck. You don’t leave the stuff on it. It’s yours to re use or re sell. I’d have all the stuff on mine, but Maritime won’t allow it. Not John Williams rule, but probably a mug frequenting this thread by the looks of it

because they are the same drivers that get out their trucks with their old jogging bottoms ripped half way up, and their guts hanging out over from under their t shirts, still covered in yesterdays egg bacon and sausage roll with tomatoe sauce splattered down the front :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

too the guys that like the so called bling, driving is a “way of life” not just a job :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

pity said director dont look inside the cabs then, run it thru the brushes and its ok as long as he aint sleeping in it after six months of 3 drivers a day on it, but if your in peterhead and its dirty you wont be picking the fish up but coming back empty. you are a silly billy

Ive done a lot of empty running this week :open_mouth:
Oh and I was excused from filling the fridge and washing it yesterday… :stuck_out_tongue:

i saw 1 of r&b drivers getting knocked up out of bed by the police outside mcdonalds in peterhead a couple weeks ago, he was parked up on the kerb, i seen him/her an hour later when i came back, in the layby at stirling hill in there bed again.
i’v also heard on the jungle drum that the council are gonna double yellow line the road leading too mcdonalds and b&q too stop trucks parking overnight/day on it

hey dont get me wrong here, i like and do keep a truck nice and clean.
more so on the inside, yes its not just a job its also your home. spending a little, like a truck table is ok i dont have a problem with.
but when it gets to several hundreds of ££££££’s on chroming the outside. come on give me a break. ffs thats taking the pi55

call me old fashioned but i think a truck looks better when its all original.

The hatred and name calling directed at people on here for looking after and buying stuff for their trucks really ■■■■■■ me off. Yes, we get it, you’d rather drink your wages of a weekend, or whatever else. I’m not gonna criticise you for ■■■■■■■ your wages up the wall, maybe you should stop moaning on like a [zb] at those of us that take a pride in our trucks. We do it because we enjoy it. I spent a day yesterday out in the sun at home listening to the radio giving my truck a spring clean and enjoyed it. I hope you moaners enjoyed whatever you did with your Saturday.

Luke practically lives in his truck. His company obviously appreciate his care of their property.
So a little pride goes a long way. So if it rocks his boat so what? Each to their own.

Same reason as someone might want to decorate and furnish their rented home the way they want to. Still someone else’s property.

Spot on Luke! This guy took pride in his job, he is an old hand, always smart even though it’s a dirty job sometimes, his own time to clean and wash the truck but truthfully it reflects his personality too, also his house and his car, if everyone else want’s to live in sh*thole let them get on with it, this guy spent his own money on something he was proud of, as I said the inside is still spotless but it only see’s a jet wash now when it is serviced, all the goodies were sold on flea bay and he got about 80% of his cost back so not bad overall.

We had a guy on St Annes who had a beautifull bright green VN610, it gleemed and the wheels and tanks were always highly polished, when he left they asked me to drive the thing for a week as mine needed a 500,000 mile overhaul. It was a complete pigsty inside and on my return the first day with it I hauled the boss out to show him what an absolute animal his previous top driver was.

Oh look!!! Time to slate someone for living life their way. Just cos they do something you don’t agree with. No doubt you pi$$ yr money up the wall of a weekend?

As an employed driver I didn’t spend money on trucks, weren’t my bag at the time, but never would I knock someone for taking pride in their equipment or their job.

As an O/D I get slated enough, passed caring now. 90% pay compliments and move on.

If you can’t live and let live, then it says more about you than those who do it their own way.

i am not slating anyone for blinging up their trucks, and i certainly dont pi55 my money up the wall.
i may have two pints all weekend. i prefer making my home nice and spending it on our grandkids.

That makes two of us then…

Although I never hold back on the ■■■■ taking of the blinged up mob, one thing has to be said it’s nice to see some drivers who still take a pride in the job.

As far as I’m concerned they look for the most part totally ridiculous, particularly the Swedish bedfords with the cow catchers on the front and those dreadful curtains, but you can bet the trailer is loaded correctly and secured and the bloke or bird at the helm knows what he or she is doing, perhaps some of the filthy inept clowns who drive trucks nowadays should take a leaf out of their book.

Can’t understand why a driver shouldnt bling his or her truck if they want to (within reason) after all a driver that takes pride in their vehicle is going to be a good worker and make lots of money for that company, which is good for all concerned.

Sadly some companies only see the truck for what its worth and I guess they’re worried about the effect on the resale value

I rent my apartment and have spent money on bits and pieces for it to make it how I like it, no frilly curtains though, and I’ll take those bits and pieces with me when I move as do most drivers when they get a new vehicle. I’m not a fan of the overly blinged trucks, especially all the extra lights, but each to their own. Although I reserve the right to continue to slag off those who obscure the windows with their frilly curtains, that’s nothing to do with taking pride, you can do that and have different curtains without using them to cover the windows, it’s about being a ■■■■.

To be fair I’m not a fan of the overly blinged up trucks either, but each to their own of course. Mine as you’ll have seen is pretty standard, just some wheel trims, dash table and such but I do spend a lot of time cleaning it. And my money on cleaning products. Oh and I certainly don’t have the frilly curtains and tend to agree with you on them being pulled across the side windows.
