ROG:
Seriously, its only the driver who decides to take only 9 off between shifts because there is nothing to stop a driver doing 3 x 15 hour shifts and having 12 hours off between each one if that is what safety demands
There is something that will stop him from doing that. Is that pile of CV’s on his boss’ desk. Thats why many of them will do minimum required by law, because they would not be able to argue in court for months after they got sack if something was safe or not.
As for me, I believe the tacho rules are much too complicated and that it not necesary. I really feel much better since I drive small vans, because instead of listening to some stupid rules, and where I take my rest and how much of it is only a thing between me and my (reasonable) boss, I feel much safer.
Of course, it just happens that our reasonable pattern of work period and rest is perfectly in line with domestic driving rules
12hrs work / drive.
1hr break every 4hrs of work/drive.
12hrs rest between shifts (no reductions)
after 6 cards 48hrs rest (No Reductions) = 6 days working 2days rest would be the max . but you could do any mixture as long as you have 48hrs rest this resets the 6 on 2off clock.
Drive max 10hrs per day.
TTX boy:
‘…Has anyone ever e-mailed Bev Bell and highlighted some of the drivers concerns over drivers hours…?’
‘…That’s maybe what it needs, some of the people at the top haven’t a clue what’s going on unless someone tells them…’
Guys, the UK doesn’t run itself anymore, although to keep us amused & entertained the Lib/Lab/Green/Con & the BBC would like us to think it does
Perhaps be aware that ‘…the people at the top…’ are EU civil servants - to whom Beverley Bell is subordinated to and have no obligation to listen to us scumbags
All Beverley Bell is empowered do is interpret what the UK is told to do from the myriad of Brussels’ diktats and enforce it on the EU’s behalf
Thus, the only way to oppose what is not liked is to remove the EU’s undemocratic influence from the UK’s political hierarchy: By that way alone could UK transport management responsibility trickle down to once more properly empower the UK’s industrial & logistical hierarchy where Beverley Bell sits!
Quite some challenge - which requires breaking tribal habits that have got us into this mess.
So, uncomfortable though it is, and I’m not making this stuff up, is to avoid voting Lib/Lab/Green/Con; challenge the BBC’s gullibly pro-EU agenda & pester the same mongrel puppet MP’s that are currently in ‘power’ (ha-ha & lol etc) on Brussels behalf
