I shifted a wheeled piece of test-kit for Pall recently. The thing had a rubber foot about two inches in diameter on each wheel that you could ratchet downwards till it took the wheel off the ground and left it sitting on the foot. The chap loading it had designed it and I thought it was brilliant. It used a ratchet mechanism similar to one on a ratchet spanner with a switch to reverse the direction of wind. I imagine it’s patented but if just two of them were fitted to a cage it would improve things immensely. Might cost a bit though…
Sounds like it might be a time-consuming affair, but I think if you fitted a fast-wind ratchet on it, or a snail-cam-type arrangement that just needed a bar to operate it would ok…
Obviously only for cages…
