Seafrance sinks

Glad to see everyone so overjoyed at yet more people losing their jobs.

Remind me to laugh at you when it is your turn.

They never gave a [zb] about anyone else so why should we care about them? If I added it up I like many on here have lost days of my life sitting in queues because of them and their stupid union. It really is good riddance. Worst ferry company I’ve ever travelled on. They make the tinpot Greek operators look good. Work shy losers.

pmsl.

Had to laugh, i heard something on the radio that they were nicking about a million euro’s worth of booze and perfume a year. Talk about taking the urine.

What’s the chances that LD will have a go at Dover Calais ?.

The Seafrance service was truely appalling and if they decided to go on strike then it wasn’t only Seafrance customers effected, but other users of Dover Calais and the people of Kent who had to avoid operation stack.
Ideally the Dover Calais route will now get another ferry operator that will give real competition tp P&O.

DFDS have sent and email out saying they plan is to put two boats on Dover Calais with LD Lines. French boats and French crew. Let’s just hope they have more sense than to employ the ex SeaFrance losers.

Just got Told the same thing about DFDS/LD when booking on the boat a short time ago.
Also the DFDS guy reckons that the 2 big SeaFrance boats may get purchased by DFDS for an as yet undecided route.

French unions being what they are,I would say that you can hold your breath, and still have some left when the merry matelots will once again be your hosts.

Good Thing is LD Lines have no fear of the unions. They caused a storm when they employed Italian staff for their boats.

There’s 2 LD Lines boats currently laid up in Falmouth that are pretty much ready to go (ironically they are the ex Norfolkline Merchants the used to serve Dover - Dunkirk) They know the boats will fit the berth at Calais (as the third sister that P&O has does), they crews are familiar with them, only need a day or 2 to sail them up the channel and stick some bunkers in them. No reason why they couldn’t be pressed into service by next week.

long may they stay sunk… crews deserved all they got lazy useless cold food serving dirty grumpy… that was just the staff… bring on new and proper competition for p&o now… rant over …smiling now… perhaps they could set up a route just for the stinking plastic russians… cheers all

Didn’t see any LD lines boats down there, but Pride of Britain was in the dry dock in Falmouth at christmas.

Spirit of France is being delivered next month.

French… “Jog on Feathers”

There had been 2 there, Norman Bridge and Norman Trader but Norman Bridge left around Xmas/New Year time for destination unknown, last I knew it was at Port Said with rumours it was off the Far East. Norman Trader is still laid up in Falmouth.

Brilliant news and not before time. It’s also interesting to not that Dover has been running fine with just P&O and DFDS. Good times indeed.

I beg to differ here…

In the last 3 weeks i have suffered a minimum of a 4 hour wait in Dover, and on Tuesday this week, nearly 7 hours!, and at least a couple of hours in Dunkerque.
So, being the clever ■■■■ i am, last night thought id try the train… 2 hours to get a train!!(Ok i did get put thru the scanner)

If they have sorted out the vibration problem. Spirit of Britain is currently laid up in dry dock in Dunkerke.

Apparently they have. The Spirit of France is about to undergo sea trials in Finland but they reckon it’s sorted

Also I have heard SoB is causing problems because they cannot turn it around quickly enough, and when you sit on the dockside watching it discharge, it seems the trucks are never going to stop coming off, I wondered whether there was perhaps a secret tunnel running to the other end and trucks were just driving through the ship on their way out. :open_mouth:

I thought they’d weighed the time it take to turn it around, against the extra capacity, so more cost effective as you are moving far more vehicles with fewer trips.
But I know what you mean about waiting for the last trucks to come off the boat.

I don’t think P&O see it as a problem. I think they’d rather have two Spirits with their longer turn around time than three smaller ships. A lot of people would forgive them the slightly longer disembarkation as they are great ships to be on. I really enjoy sailing on the Spirit of Britain

the turn around time won’t ba a worry for P&O, every trip the Spirit ships do they carry more trucks and if they can do that with less crossings per day due to the longer turn around they are saving fuel.
