Early Seabourne tilt…
I was twelve when I cut this out, 11 years later I was pulling Seabourne trailers!
Hey guys
Here a reply from Tilburg Operation The Netherlands. I have looked at all replies and pictures and do remember quite alot of them.
I am attaching a picture about the continental side of the Seabourne operation.
I do have more pictures if someone is interested.
Kind regards

I’ve been digging and found a few more Seabourne pics…Because the Spaniards got off the boat first they were up and over this hill outside Dieppe nicely compounding the snow, when we got there it was solid ice, two Seabournes (S.Johns) and Nigel on Charlie Butts spent the night at odd angles with trailers against the barriers, it was only when daylight came the gritters came out…
I’m sure this is the only shot I have of Unit 7, like all these old places it makes you wonder how we got all the motors in and out.
One Friday night a young apprentice fitter at Seabourne decide to get legless and ‘borrow’ a Merc, he burried it in this shop in Dagenham, Saturday morning it was still there because it was holding the shop up! I think the Capri sitting there belonged to Bill Fox.
I remember coming home from school on that friday and seeing the destruction that caused. What a fantastic photo. brings back so many memories.
The bulidings are still there today, it was on the A13 at the Chequers corner. Bypassed now, I think the old Capri has gone though :

Hi Leo,
When I was going to H. Wassing & Zonen (Tilburg) in the 70s Jan Hendricks was the guy in the office who dealt with most of the Seabourne loads along with Leo, are you the same Leo who worked for Wassings?
I’m always interested in any Seabourne pictures.
Cheers, Nick

Hi Nick,
Great picture, Yes I am same Leo who worked for Wassing at the time. I started Seabourne Express Parcels Netherlands in 1983. Jan Hendriks decided not to join us , but later he successfully started his own operation hauling trailers to and from Ireland.
I am not sure you did Tilburg after we started in 1983. Thanks for your reply and hope you still doing fine.
I still need to scan the pictures I have, so be patient.
Regards Leo
Here is another picture of of Driver going to Tilburg on regular bases. Think his name is Alan but not for sure. Anybody Knows him??

Hi all,I remember Seabourne running through Dover to Zeeby, mostly TKs and some KMs mostly 4 wheelers, all the lads said it was a cracking job.Anyone remember Lacey’s who run out of Barking?
At the rear of Franslast (Seabournes yard in Ringön, Göteborg) a disused office was turned into a makeshift flat that drivers could use if weekended, not much - but a bit of space and a comfy bed! Anyone who used it will recognise this view.
The gasometer is still there but most of the buildings near the lorry have gone.
