Bloody hell Harry they were catching you on camera in the 60s thats got me thinking now
cheers Johnnie
hiya,
Yes Johnnie was very photogenic back then and the guy at the wheel in the M1 pic could well be me as iv’e said in a previous post remember well having to sheet that tilt up, an ingress of water was found when it was opened up “just to get a bit more on” it would have been heading o’er the water but not with me at the helm I could still get lost crossing London and would most likely have been heading for Dover. the arm position on the steering wheel is reminicent of my style, I even get told off from the Missus for not driving “proper” to this day,all that critisism but she was still an expert at flattening my wage packet.
thanks harry long retired.

I’ve met several of Heebinks guys, and they are your archetypal Dutch Hauliers - very professional and well turned out:
Trucks and Drivers – their uniform is a smarter turn out than many UK “'Erberts” get changed into when out on a night out

If I got into any troubles I would sooner be with the Erberts than the Egberts -never trust a Dutchman. I worked with 'em for years, but by all means admire their uniforms.
Was this the one the Davies’ bought from Kingston Minerals? I think Alan Cleaver had one of theirs aswell…And my Dad had one of those Talbot Horizons aswell. A reg and a sticker on the back bragged it was “5 Speed”

That foden rings a bell , wasn’t it on the front cover of truck n driver many moons ago ?
It was on the cover of the first ever edition of T&D.
Was owned by a guy called Phil ? who ran a small fleet but drove this one himself.
It had a 400 or 450 in it ,which for the day,was right up there.

I think it was Phil Morris of P&A Haulage of Oswestry. And I recall it was 400bhp, which was big power then
