Hi again,I know where you’re coming from Straight eight…I had a Stralis on friday night,58 reg with only 108,000kms on it and already the inside is shaking itself apart…Iveco still havent got it right…went like stink though, they got that ok :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Who was in the cab at the time

Thanks very much Marc! On the Stray at Harrogate for, I think, the 1984 Trans Pennine? I remember the photo appearing in Motor Transport a week or so later. At that time, it was still at work as a shunter, and restoration was still a few years away.

Hello there, nice bit of info from Chris (240) about the Atki…our shunter is a FL10 and its hanging :frowning:

Fodens today. look at Dover in the first pic over 40 years ago.

This last one would fit in nicely on Paul Andersons Northwest trucks site as James Booth hailed from Westhoughton.

Cheers Bubbs.

Brillliant pics once again from Bubbleman   The Harrison & Jones drawbar brings back memory’s and its a company name I’ve been racking my brain to remember for bloody ages :exclamation: :exclamation: AFAIR they were based at Swan Mill in Middleton Junction and was always seen as a ‘dead man’s shoes’ job, tried to get on there a few times but didn’t have the right contacts :frowning: I’m sure nearly all their fleet were Fodens and the drawbars were a special job with raising bodywork produced by a manufacturer in either Holland or Switzerland  Think they had up to 8 of them on the road at one time.

Were Harrison and Jones the ones who worked for Kay Metzeler(sp) at Glossop, the firm that made foam products,or did they have their own transport?

Hi Chris, AFAIR Kay Metzeler had their own transport and might have been in competition with H & J’s. I think that K M’s also had some link with Draka Foam who were also in Glossop or possibly Hyde, DF’s colours were red & gold and KM’s were blue & white. Hope that helps.

That’s another company I was thinking about in Glossop Dave,Draka Foam.I’m sure one of their motors got blown over on the Snake a few years ago, there was a photo in the “Sheffield Star”.They ran about with single axle high cube trailers and I don’t suppose the driver knew whether he was loaded or empty.
