Hi Marc well spotted it does indeed look very much like one of mine, although we did not ship out of Dover at all!!

But we did some work for a company Routenorth of Liphook run by Arthur Rudd and a Tony Newman.

They were flat loads of ply and formica I seem to remember, they were out of Dover! I see a Transport Services Iveco in the foreground too!!

Thanks and regards Pat

A few more from the company :

The Bass F10 sent me scrambling for some photos of a truck of mine Bubbleman. Sister to B652MJF was my B662MJF. They were both being sold by Hartshornes, Walsall at the same time. There were about 20 in their used vehicle yard at the same time. 3 days after buying it was put work for Ralph Davies with fridges, to and from Scotland, where this photo was taken.

After a suitable running in period it was repainted by Chris (Hitchcocks?) from Whiteparish Hampshire. (Ainacs Pat, did you know Chris?). A very good job he did too. It then started going abroad for Ralph.

Great photo Marc i always did love those shots.

How good are your eyes Pat, that was taken when i was on for Squibbs or Transport Services Ltd.
We used Dover on a weekly basis with the Royal Mail and Spanish groupage.

Would that be one of Lowe’s sleeper-cabbed Borderers in the middle, I wonder? I’m looking at the original CM print as we speak, and I’m still not sure.

Thanks for the replies lads, the Dover pic went down well…heres a few more.

Hope these are of interest.

Cheers Marc.

No, it’s Eldridge from Silvertown E16, their yard was under the flyover next to the Silvertown Motel (remember that?) They carried on until the mid 90s & stayed loyal to the marque running Sudden Accidents to the end, they lost a driver on the Zeebrugge boat. I think they packed up when Newham Council bought the yard under a compulsory purchase order, the Guvnor’s name was Eddie, nice old boy but he didn’t take any crap off anybody, I did a bit of subbing for him just before they finished.

Thought they were at cody road now Mark might be wrong that big j G L Bakers
transhield Faversham just make out the Boc on door

I loved my mates photo of an old Foden, written on the door:

H. Barraclough Ltd.
Yarn Spinner.
Bradford.

Hi Malc, I am sure that I used to see that Foden ? around the Allerton area of Bradford in the eighties was it a green one. ?
Can you post it, I did wonder if it was a joke or not.
