I used to run out of Rugby, at Rugby, often with my tanker on K & M. A day job servicing anywhere between Nottingham and London and paid silly money based on mileage and extra for running into the smoke, then a load back to Sandiacre to get me home at the end of the day for the night man to take over.

Certainly does and I’ve said it before, that one could well have been mine, I think there were only about 3 of them there. Sometimes the cab was filled with cartons of glasses. Because I changed over with the night man at Sandiacre or at Rugby (he would get a lift down with one of the others), we filled up at ordinary service stations and one near Rugby was running a special offer. Filling up twice every 24 hours there produced boxes and boxes of wine glasses.
