Here’s a few to get us back up the Q, conner have us on page 2  :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I live on the estate behind Twigg’s farm which can be seen on the horizon.I bought my house when it was not quite finished in 1969,on what was called the Twigg’s farm estate, now just known as the “New” part of Bradwell.
What used to be Twigg’s farm became a brick crushing plant, but is now a care home,(So I don’t have far to go when it comes time to move on!).
At the bottom of the dip in the road is the roundabout at Parkhouse, with my present employer,(FedEx),on the corner.
I can’t put a date on the pic,but this was pretty much how I remember it in 1969/70.

The picture is taken from in front of High Carr farm, and where the spoil tip is shown is now High Car Industrial estate.

Give the man a goldfish  I live on the other new estate the other side where the mich factory was. The crushing plant was dorkin minerals and my 8 wheelers carted the ■■■■■ away for the old peoples home you mentioned

Hiya i used to go to that mineral place with rock stuff from Birkenhead. You couldn’t get through the gate because
of a miserable mastiff dog.there was a sign that said blow your horn for assistance. this chap who looked 199years old
would get you tipped. saying that you was in and out in a few mins.(i don’t think he wanted you to look around).
in the background of that photo is where the first set of mile high traffic lights appeared, they was twice as high
so when you came over the hill you could see the red light and have time to stop.are they still there…good old days Ian.
tell me Ian what was the name of that fizzy drinks place on the Industrial estate we loaded from. you got loaded
then signed for 6 one liter bottles of pop they gave to you. we delivered the load to Cannock when they had a truck
off the road.

Hiya Cheers seems to ring a bell Steve.

Huntsman Tioxide Tanker pics, a staple of T H Brown for many many years which DE RIJKE poached for the final few years before the factory closed in 2009.

The letter box in this photo on the old road into Avonmouth reminds me of the time 40 years ago when I spent hours by it chiseling off a melted inner hub bearing that had welded it self to the drive axle on a Mammouth Major Mk 5. that had just come off the M5. Cheers Phil.

Aaargh, been there and done it, second steer on a Foden 8 legger. We changed the stub axle and binned the molten metal.

Numbum:

They had a huge fleet of those 140s, long-wheelbase 6x4s:

To my eye, that configuration is the best-proportioned lorry. If I won the pools, I would have one in the living room, with a girl like the one on the magazine cover to polish it!
