Muckaway:
Piston Broke, is the ERF Roger Carters?
Harris’ were a Sodbury regular, the shovel a Cat 950C? Looks a bit small for a 966 and the D series had a black stripe along the bonnet.
Well done Nathan. You win whatever non-existent prize you wish - enjoy it…
That was Roger’s second truck after starting as OD, and his first brand new one. I saw him at the Retro a few weeks ago - he’s still as fussy about his lorry
shakysteve:
Yep the erf is Roger Carter ofChipping Sodbury as is the volvo i sold to Jamie harris all those years ago .Steve.
Hi Steve. I had a feeling that you would have sold her to James I started for them in '93 and was presented with this lorry, brand new, on my first day. Genuine 17 tonnes payload. Absolutely cracking tipper, ideally suited for the job and owned by two of the nicest fella’s you could ever work with. Note that I said ‘with’ not ‘for’ because they were/are that sort of Boss…
Forgot to ask you, Steve. I don’t suppose you have any pics to put up, do you? You must have sold an awful lot of lorries around this area, to a lot of operators - a lot of which are no longer around… it would be great to see them

Muckaway:
17t payload on a 6wheeler, I think those days are long gone. The closest to that I kbow of is Webbs of Armscotes’ L reg SK; I put 16.8 on that.
They are indeed…more’s the pity
It used to be a regular thing - some of the Reivers could carry 17, even at 24.400, some Constructors were the same.
We didn’t have all the daft stuff hanging off of them, did we? Somehow we all seemed to manage without auto sheets, auto tailgates, a couple of dozen camera’s and twenty flashing lights. Tis a wonder that we’re all still alive…
The lightest 6wheelers we’ve got are (my old) Alpha (max load 15.7) and for a model still in production, Volvo FE7 (15.6). Stick an alloy body on you’d get 16.5 but less than the FL7s and Leyland Constructors.
Auto tailgates, adblue systems, those Hanson style side-over sheets all add to the tare weight.
Oh and my wage slip and sandwich box.
Hiya…note the mistake…on the NCB bedford it said it was fitted with a millmore body, correct.
the cheadle cheshire is wrong… millmore was cheadle staffs. millmore was famous for the triple deck
cattle bodies.also lightweight ally tippers. the outfit has now all gone. i think gerald mills lives in the
devon area nowadays.

IIRC the Leyland experimental gas turbine engined vehicles were Steers. Once saw one (and heard it ) in Leeds. It was pulling a flat loaded with Leyland engine castings from the Leeds foundry.
No, they were 6x4 units, except the little Ergo Comet version and the later Marathon

Bison chassis’ weren’t they?
I do believe you’re right Steve!
That Esso one has a Maudsley/Rockwell back end. The same as fitted to export Mammoth Majors and also Scammell Crusaders. I’ve not seen one with this back end fitted before.
The Bison was fitted with with the Albion Light weight backend
Muckaway:
I loaded an E reg FL7 6w this morning; 16t at 25t mgw, Hacklings of Bourton on the Water. Not sure what a warehousing/pallet firm do with a tipper■■?

Nathan, why was it only 25t gross not 26t ?
This one driven by my mate was only 25 ton gross Trev.I think it was either chassis or suspension,as the newer one’s were 26 ton gross.
Cheers Dave.
