Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Bet not many folk wanted to park too close to these lads!

Never heard of these - bought out & renamed I assume? - Prefer the ‘other’ Marstons anyway

An image from an earlier era. On the road with Roger Kenney - taken whilst he was driving.

Yes, but where and when? None of these pics ever have place or date. No perspective without that info. We have an AEC on a 3 lane road, with a Transit on the left. I think Transits were introduced in 1965 so, not earlier than that. I don’t know where Forth operated from or to but, that could be a clue. There is a dark sign on the left, which seems to say Dual Carriageway Ahead. A caravan suggests a holiday route. I’ll plump for just east of Honiton on the A30, with the photographer heading west towards the start of the Honiton bypass.
Any advance on Honiton? Somewhere else hundreds of miles away? !

The colour pics of Whites Removals seems to be at Dover, from the cliffs behind.

I do not know the location or date as otherwise I would have detailed them - Roger did not keep records of where he took pictures. I post these images for the enjoyment of the Trucknet and Scrapbook Memories viewers. Personally I think this is a great action picture, regardless of the lack of information provided. Would you rather I did not post anymore pictures?

Just you keep on posting “good buddy” me being a bit of an “oldster”

thanks harry, long retired.

Yes you keep posting, dont take any notice of the pedantic twit !

Nice line up of Geo Coopers looks like they were at Mayes cafe on the A12

hiya,
Yes LB76 anyone who doesn’t know anything about the huge Forth Transport Group
isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer by my reckoning.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hi retriever.
Please keep posting.I like to know a bit about the pic’s but as you say it’s not always possible.
Part of the fun with the scenic pic’s if there is no detail,is trying to place and date them.
Don’t succeed very often but it does’nt matter still enjoy them.
Regards Mike.

Harry, as you know i like yourself had a spell working for the Forth group ,i cant see how any one in transport dos’nt know anything about the company. The AEC in the photo was a Falkirk based motor but it could of been anyware in the country!!.Vic.PS if the member would like to know more about the company its all on here under two threads of its own.

Hi again, looks like its “have a pop at Retriever time” again, keep the pics coming Rob,I for one dont mind no info on the pic,I just like to look at a shot and remember the days when paint and decent signwriting was put on a lorry…not like todays white and stickers turn out.Well done to all who put pics on  ,Cheers Bubbs,

Well, I suppose ‘anywhere in the country’ is a start. It’s not a pop against Retriever, I don’t even look to see who posts what pics. Why do people have to personalise non-personal comments. It is about a lack of info by anyone in any photo.
Still, if personal is the order of the day on here, LB76 you are a disorganised idiot.

Now, lets get back to the point. A30 Honiton or, where?

Ok then,Frying pan… Retiever has in the past been subjected to quite a bit of stick,he dosen’t often post pictures and thankfully they normally end up on the scrapbook, your comment about little information of the Forths AEC suggested that without a caption there was no point in posting it,I for one thought it was a nice shot and being a Scottish haulier and Roger Kenney (RIP) who took the photo, coming from the Manchester area then the likelyhood of the photo being took in the Honiton area is probably way out.
Your posting came over as a critisism and maybe others thought the same thing.
Bubbs.

Personal was’nt the order of the day until YOU put in your comments, If anyone is a disorganised idiot it certainly is NOT LB76 :open_mouth: Try looking a bit more closer to home

And…The more pictures by ‘Retreiver’ the better.

It seems as if someone as jumped out of it into the fire :open_mouth: did he jump or was he pushed :exclamation: :open_mouth:

The Forth picture would be in the late 60s looking at the other vehicles in the photo so could be the old A6 but as there were few motorways and not that many dual carriageways it most certainly be a major A road.

Some more M.T.cuttings.I think a lot of us on here can relate to the young lad in the six wheeler. Mike.

Cripes!! We can only assume that, once loaded, progress in the six-wheeler was, shall we say, sedate…? The driver must’ve thought they’d moved Yorkshire by the time he got there from London…
