No, if you’ve shut the fuel off and it keeps running, I’d be checking the engine oil level!
Reminds me of the old Gardners, you’d pull the stop cable, and if you let it go at the right time the engine would run backwards. Coughing and spluttering mind, but running none the less.
sounds like your sucking a bit of air in. just check the injector pipe connections for tightness, or cracked pipes.
+1 for the oil level, too high may mean it’s running on oil and not diesel, dangerous as it can destroy itself.
