Who knows more about this one? Did it’s work up in Sweden between 1951 and 1959 apparently…

I know I have this picture somewhere, but can’t put a hand on it. Its bonnet, radiator grille and wheels could indeed make it an Unic CD 3, but the bodies of both the truck and trailor look post WW II, and I doubt many Unics were sold in Sweden. The Unic CD 3 was powered by a 120 bhp diesel made under Mercedes-Benz licence.

By sheer coincidence I was only talking to someone today (who has nothing to do with transport) about Bourgey-Montreuil, haven’t thought or spoken about them for ages. She lived in Grenoble and knew the company. We use to wash tanks out in their depot at Chambéry…spooky !!!

And, believe it or not, that pre-WW II Renault had power steering!

Is this the same Bourgey Mintreuil?

OM badged Unic/Fiat/Iveco?

That’s a UNIC 340 V8 chassis (the raised cab is the clue), rebadged as an OM, presumably to give Fiat a “premium” product for it home market. The badge on the cab suggests that OM’s mechanical contribution was the extra axles. Maybe Fiat wanted to supply its customers with an “in-house” multi-axle vehicle, rather than relying on conversion specialists. Whatever, that lorry was King of Italian roads in the early 1970’s.

OM badged Unic/Fiat/Iveco?

One of the few companies enable to enlarge axle-configuration…in this case 8x2 by ORA (see badge) and
the publication “Officine Ribaltabili Autocarri” among Fresia, Orlandi etc to meet weight-requirements.

Cheers for the info :sunglasses:

Spotted this one last night at the Centre Routiers in Moulins…

Cheers  Must have been a big-ish firm back in the day then?

It still is! It was set up in 1931 by Léon Bourgey and his son-in-law Charles Montreuil. Based near Chambéry (Savoie), it’s now part of the Geodis group and named Geodis-BM.

Hey,

I should go for a french Saurer build before WW II, they were only build in right had drive and never saw a double drive model, but drive axles looks like WW II Mack tandems. At first Berliet used them too for 6x4. But of course the nose could be of the Mack too, frontwheels looks French.

Eric,

I’ve sent a request to JF Colombet, of Charge-Utile Magazine, and will keep you informed if i egt more about it.

What happened to the heavy haulage side of the company? Did that all merged into Scales?

Hallo michel, You have right superbe, so they must have build right hand drives too. But as the lorry is from sweden, and they drove at the left, never saw an other right hand drive truck of Sweden.

Eric,

Cheers Michel, does look alike, doesn’t it?

Eric, they drove on the right-hand side in Sweden until the late 50s or early 60s if I remember correctly. It changed overnight and didn’t cause too much problems, as there wasn’t a lot of traffic in those days.

Yes i know till 1967, but never seen a truck with right hand drive before 1967 over there, everything was left hand drive.
