Couple of pic’s for Anorak…

Thank you very much.

  1. Volvo UB 25 89 is new to me.
  2. I have seen the one on the bridge before.
  3. I think this is the first one, with a TIR plate added.
I don’t know which coachbuilder did the cabs on these Volvos. This could be because I never knew, or have forgotten. Perhaps a day searching through Conam or that other one will yield the answer.
  4. The Schols and van Spronsen lorries are all well-represented in the internet’s archives. The tanker looks superb, does it not? There are some colour photos of van Spronsen’s LVs out there. The paintwork on them was stunning. I reckon those Paul &van Weelde cabs look far better than the later LB76.
  5. I usually go on about the skills of Dutch coachbuilders. Not in this case lol. The wheels look American, as does the cab. Was this an early US import, possibly something to do with the military?
  6. The Guy dates from 1956, according to this:

Interesting! The Scania-Vabis “Monster” looks finely built and must have provided good comfort for its time.

One article I read says that wood and leather were used to trim the interior of the P&vW cabs. This might seem outlandish to British people, but those 1950s Mercedes Pullman cabs were similarly finished.

Good idea Paul

Trying to keep the 2 grand children amused, plus my friends 2 grand kids, plus my neighbours 3, a mix of French and English…pity people didn’t get on as well as kids do …7 kids in a trailer, driving them around the field and my neighbours fields…they loved it, something different in the holidays. :unamused:

Rain all day today, so five minutes to myself…

Here’s a batch of photo’s not all that odd or weird, just slightly unusual…

Pic 1 is an Alfa-Romeo. Pic 5 a Panhard. Pic 6 a Saviem. The railway pic could be in Corsica.

Classic epoch French view. Robert
