Hiya,
Yep Nash Metropolitan , I had a yellow and white one, they were basically
the Austin A40 and they sure were a bird puller with no room for anything
when you’d pulled, nothing special performance wise though.
thanks harry, long retired.

What would you do in a car with a bird then Harry? Apart from driving that is… surely you weren’t having inappropriate thoughts

Never heard of it before until this week, I’ve accidentally bumped into an article about it.
Looks there’s enough variety among shown vehicles Michel, can you provide us with some more pictures please
Does anyone remember the following device? This was before mobile phones or driver cards. I happened to discover it as I was looking for something else. I used it quite a lot and found it helpful to keep me legal.

Oi Pete, don’t tell him that, before you know it Herr Sutherland is grassing you up at your local VOSA inspector
Why did you used a bit of wire and crocodile clip anyway? I just cracked on, once did 977km and 18h work on the one disc (when I was on multi-drop work), when I pulled back in the yard, showed the disc to the gaffer, he just said " ah, proper day of work then"…
How does that device work Johnny? Does it sort of scan the disc? Never seen such thing before…

Hey Patrick, you’re cruising for a bruising!!
The device worked on it’s own, a bit like a time tracker/stopwatch - no disc scanning. Press the appropriate button e.g. when driving and it timed your hours. It sounded an alarm when any driving time rule was about to be broken, if I remember correctly 15 mins before. Then again when the limit was reached. When compared to today’s smartphones, it is a very simple device. Maybe a bit too challenging for you all the same [emoji1] [emoji1]
Twice when the police had stopped me they looked at it and then didn’t bother checking my tachograph disc.
Cheers
Johnny

Bac à Sable is every beginning of September in Alsace ,east of France. The name was chosen because at the first editions ,the lorries could run in the sand of a quarry. Now it’s more rallies in the countryside. A lot of German,Swiss are also present, this last edition saw about 90 lorries with a superb organisation.
My local DAF dealership opened it’s doors for the public today… and they had quite some gems lined up…
