Citroën H-type, produced from 1947 to 1982 with very little change. The first models (until c. 1960) had a split windscreen. Standard engine was the Traction’s petrol engine, followed by a 3-speed gearbox. No upgrading was made during 35 years on its mechanics. Also available was an Indénor Diesel. A very noisy, but also very handy and popular van.
Saviem … mon ami did you during your travels with “Renault Trucks " dealerships …ever have the pleasure of visiting " Stewarts of Larbert” or “ALBA motors Elgin” I ask this only out of curiosity not any other reason … I had great dealings with both and knew both owners very well …this all stems from buying my SAVIEM JP 75 after completing my stint in Saudi Arabia …Au Revoir & Bon Chance
This looks so powerful just stood there, bet he was proud to drive that old beast…
I’m hoping I’m not mistaken, but these old girls looked liked they’re finished with, I hope not, but if they are, surly a classic of the future to be saved

Bonsoir Richard, hope you and Angie are well. !!
Now, stop being a silly boy…

Well Richard it would be nice by the A41…I could go and annoy them every day!..But I think that it may be the museum created by the Thommen family in Suisse. They of Garages Curve, the Simca/Chrysler Dealer. Looks really good does it not?
Hope all well with everyone…

I’d say it’s in Switzerland; possibly Mr Moritz Thommen’s collection.

A few years ago, the French Administration decided the “Tontons” didn’t meet any more with the security requirements. All were stopped, and sold to Africa. A handful were preserved, though.

Old Citrone van, sparse interior, and the speedo ? down by the passenger seat, where else !!
Looking at the front wheels, it’s a Type 23 (pre-1954), or 23.50 (1954-1967).

Morning all,
A day of choices awaits!..A choice between the Emulsion paint roller…or digging out some ditches…
Yes, Ive just been out and started the old Hy- Mac, and left her to warm up, whil`st I enjoy a nice Earl Grey.
Froggys right, those are two of the last examples of Antoine
s, (Loheac), “Ton Tons”. Really they are G Serie Renaults with Antoines design cab up front, (plus quite a lot of his ideas underneath). At the back you can just see one of the earlier Ton Tons, (“Uncle, Uncle”, because when he was building his first lorries that was what his nice kept saying to him).
Fantastic man, and a true philantrophic employer. Those lorries were built to be economic, easy and cheap to repair, and so feather light. And they drove nicely…if a little slow…but great earnings factors!
Backsplice, yes I met George Stewart several times. Nice chap, and we shared a love of the “Malt”…mind you we differed on choice, I always was a fan of the “Blackbush”! I think Stewarts were tipper operators originally. I think that they became a casualty of the Saviem/Berliet merger. But Alba Motors I do not know. George traded on the “Auld Alliance”, my French colleagues liked that!
You had a good choice with a Serie J, they were superb lorries whatever engine, mind you when you had Volvo, DAF, Magirus and Saviem trying to create a Bedford/Ford beater, it was going to be half decent! The Americans loved the little Mack, which was tuly a grown up Serie J, (although they termed it a Mack built in" their " European factory…Blainville, home of the Serie J!
Must go before the daylight shows up the walls that need repainting…off to the digger…
Cheerio for now.
Hi Fergie,
Nice pictures mate, here is one for you to spoil the kids with!
oiltreader:
Snapped in Holland, I guess “sacre bleu” would be apt.
Oily
Can beat that oiltreader…guy up the road who specializes in old Citroen cars of all types, has a “recovery car” with a body big enough for the DS, and thats an 8 wheeler…triple axle rear end…obviously… He uses it regularly, and actually its not a bad looking beast…
Use to have a pic of it, but lost them when our computer crashed…must get another one at some point and post it up…

Ah, a baby donkey…sweet…however Pierre, the kids might be a trifle too old for that, at 46…42. 37 and 35 years old they wouldn’t fit on it either, however the grandchildren would like it !!..

Nope Oily…, its the same model as the one you posted, (sorry not up on car models) in white, and a little rough around the edges, as its a working vehicle…
