i use a tomtom one with truck map for central europe. so far it is pretty good what i tend to do is check with a truckers atlas view the route at 500% if it looks like main roads etc then will follow it within reason if it looks dodgy get near get out and ask 
and if not you could always go back to the 1990’s and buy a good old fashioned a-z
