Any salt will do the job of melting ice

So you can’t explain it then obviously.

You’ve been the victim of the latest con! East European gangsters are swapping salt for talcum powder and making a fortune on the black market! :stuck_out_tongue:

The salt on your doorstep has washed away or, the temperature in your neck of the woods dropped below -21 degrees. Simples!

Salt is only good until the road then surface temp reaches -3, after that its useless, hence the reason it was very ineffective in the recent very cold weather…

All the Canals around Cheshire have been frozen since since just after Xmas, nothing moving on them, one local boat hire to us had to collect a family after thier break, take them and thier belongings back to the base and the car, and have only just got the boat back after two weeks with it moored on the canal…

WildGoose:
I served on HMS Invincible for a while in my short Navy career, one evening in the North Sea, the flight deck officer had the inspired idea of spraying the entire flight deck with sea water, to prevent it freezing in the sub zero temps.

He was not popular the following morning when every inch of the deck had to be chipped free of ice with a shovel, before flying operations could commence. Evidently, salt water freezes as well as anything else.

Had this person never seen films of the WWII convoys to Russia or listened to a few old sailors, They spent more time chipping ice off the ships, because of the risk of capsizing, than looking for U boats.

We will not be botherd with ice on the roads in the future, have you not heard of global warming or climate change, does anyone know of a good grape seed that I can get hold of .
