I’m a smoker but I’m happy about the smoking ban in restaurants as I hate to smell smoke when I’m eating, but I find it bizarre that pub landlords arn’t allowed to choose whether to be a ‘smoking’ pub or a ‘no smoking’ pub, and allow us all to have freedom of choice.
I’ve had 4 visitors to my home today who don’t smoke, so I only smoked in another room by an open window while they were here, my choice, but in respect of them.
In a lorry that’s my home from Monday to Saturday it’s another matter and to ban it is ridiculous when we’re suppose to turn that cab into our lounge and then our bedroom for 5 or 6 nights a week.
Am I ever going to stand outside of a lorry for a ■■■…no bloody chance
come off it, i bet they were the sort with attitudes like “[zb] the smokin ban, im gonna smoke in my cab let them stop me” whos seen the headlining of a vehicle that has been smoked in, i also had someone drive my truck for the day and i left my bedding in there, i had a please no smoking sign next to the tacho, did he care? no, and my quilt stank for weeks. fair play to the company for sacking them, if they dont like it there is an employment tribunal

I have, I’ve got one.
My prediction is that we will soon have a political party in power who have always been allied with and funded by the big breweries and cigarette manufacturers…

A little off topic -
Most residential care homes for the elderly have a no smoking rule !!
How the hell do they expect someone of 80+ who has smoked all their life to suddenly quit ■■?
This is one of the most ridiculous draconian laws ever sanctioned
What is wrong with having some sort of sensible law on this issue - I’m quite sure that the majority would agree to not smoking in a restuarant for example
Even more bizzare that I heard.
In prisons, the inmates can smoke but the officers can’t…although that might have changed now.
So, given that three drivers have been sacked for smoking in other people’s working environment, should us remaining drivers refuse to enter any customer’s homes that are or have been smoking in our working environment?
I’m a smoker and I consider that I am doing a huge favour to society. I pay a fortune in tax and won’t be drawing the old age pension for thirty years because I will kick the bucket from lung cancer before I’m 70.
God alone knows what will happen when fifty percent of the adult population are taxpayers and the other fifty percent are coffin-dodgers, taxes will go through the roof.

easy solution.
smack the jumped up ■■■■■■ of a manager in the face. he will say “i’ll phone the police”. hit the [zb] again. they always end up backing down.
then you demand a pay rise. there’s no point in letting him headbut your fist for [zb] all. is there?
oh. don’t forget to shag his wife.
i like your style but the mangers misis is a dog but his daughter is worth one
I’m a non smoker but can I shag his other daughter anyway?.

only within the confines of their own cell can the cons smoke.
at the entrance to each cell block are normally 2 small signs, the 1st will state " prisoners aged 18yrs and older are housed within this block" the other sign states “smoking is only allowed within designated areas” ie: their cell. there are designated smoking shelters within the prison for staff to use, but these are at the descression of the govenor etc. so if the Govenor is a non smoker theres probably going to be less smoking shelters for the staff, I know Hull prison only has 1 shelter for the staff
the cons can only have a maximum of 2oz of baccy in their possession at any time, though with the prices DHL are charging them for 12.5g packs, I doubt they`d accumilate 2oz.
DHL charge em 30p for each banana they buy, though its not unheard of, if someone spends £120 a week on their “canteen” order, which is pre-picked, sealed in clear bags and delivered to them, on trucks driven by the likes of me. we drive right up to the cell blocks in each prison to deliver
The cons can litterally order almost anything you can find in your local tesco store (except alcohol) subject to available funds that they earn while working within the workshop.
They can also order items from argos, as I delivered into Ranby prison yesturday 9 tote boxes containing, CD “boogie boxes” coffee makers, several duvets, ( & duck & down pillows) PS3 fifa soccer games, an electric typewriter, electric tooth brushes & more.
the cons actually have more “rights” within the prison than the prison officers.
more so the VP`s (vunerable prisoners) rapists, ■■■ offenders etc get the VIP treatment, its US that get locked into sterile areas when they get moved around… PC gone mad?
its just the same as not checking your oil … Maybe the previous drivers never checked the oil but if the engine seizes whilst you are in control they are in the clear as the current driver you should have checked it.
Smoking … why should a non smoker have to drive a truck when a driver smoked in it in the last shift.
Many companies have had a NO SMOKING policy well before the law came in …
The next law will be no RADIOS as you should not tune them or change station whilst driving …
Does this mean you can not use any other switches on the vehicle as you will not be in full control ?

Next they will all be telling us that we’ve got to only drive with our hands in the ten to two position on the wheel and only shuffle the wheel through our hands when turning it.If they go back to the old type of wagons then they’d suit the modern days perfectly. They’d be too slow to get nicked for speeding, you can’t use the palm of your hand to wind the wheel because there’s no power steering, you could’nt hear the radio even if you had one and there’s nothing much else that’s electric which needs switching, and the cab is so drafty that it’ll blow your matches or lighter out so you could’nt even light up your cigs even if you do smoke. But the only problem would be the length of time needed to change each gear with your left hand.
Smoking in resturants was mentioned, worst thing that ever happened to RED LODGE was the smoking ban. You walk thru the door and you can now smell the food!!!
So does anyone have an opinion of an owner driver smoking in cab? What are the rules?
I don’t see the issue. It’s quite clear really; like 'em or not, rules are rules - not options!
There’s plenty of other rules we (or some of us) might choose to break/ignore; speeding (on single carriage roads), for example. We all know (or should) that there is a ‘price to pay’ should our indiscretion be noticed by those in authority.
You speed - you get points/fine.
You drink drive - you get sacked.
You smoke in the cab - you get sacked.
Severity of punishment may depend on company policy but either way, ‘live by the sword, die by the sword’ an’ all that!
