Rust in Greece

rward:
who is going to be the lucky owner I wonder

I bet you know him well!

Is she home yet rowley  page 3 of this thread gives a good Hint

room for some more on that trailer i reckon, be better off putting that heap of a man on the trailer and pulling it back with the transcon i think…  :sunglasses:

Abandoned old kassbohrer semitrailer. Never seen on duty something like this. The rear axle is steerable driven by a wire probably connected to that round thing up the pin. Not quite sure how it works or how easy is to reverse with such thing?

It looks like the pin engages normally, then that lump thing on the end of the rod lodges in the jaws of the fifth wheel, somehow. Far simpler than today’s electropneumatic or hydraulic mechanisms.

well gr diosol costas my transcon arrived home this morning and its all thanks to you coz I would never have found it I cannot thank you enough for all your help and patience il be in touch shortly best regards rowland

I’m truly happy that i helped to be saved such a beautiful truck. Preservation movement in Greece is still at the beginning and many old trucks have bad end. Now she’s in good hands. Congratulations Rowland!

Hello Costas!

Great job with the Ford!
Maybe we can have a look at the transcon in gaydon?!
I’m wondering if it’s really as good as it looks on the pictures, incredible!

Cheerio!

I’d love to see her in Gaydon (I would like to see myself in Gaydon too)
The truck is a diamond. Rust free, on the button even with six 12R20 very good tires. It could easily drive from Greece to UK on its legs!Easily!

gr diosol its all down to you I got this lovely transcon so im deeply thankfull to you regards your good friend rowly

Hello all. A Company called “Robbiesse” used to build trailers with that set-up in the 70’s. A French driver showed me round a fibreglass fridge trailer he was pulling over Mt. Blanc when we stopped at Aosta. When the unit turned right the cable turned the bogie left, stopping the trailer cutting into the corner because the cable crossed in the middle. He reversed onto the bank no problem. Looked easier than our Draw-bar. Jim.

Nice kept ex Belgian MB 1844 , making a second career in Greece.

Volvo oldtimer chase

tidy photo pal . nice to see ya out about .

After all these years ASG board remains on top. (along with a later 142? sun visor) Former ASG truck imported in Greece from Sweden. Had a second life as a fuel tanker, and now is running its third (and probably last) part of its life as an insite water carrier.

Hello gr diesels,i went to zante last year and a really flashy white scania tanker came past the hotel ,the hotel owner said there was 2 of them that came over from the mainland once aweek ,i have never seen a lorry with as many lights in my life ,it was flat out on a really bad road in zante and the main roads are not up to much, have you seen them or heard of them

hi all was that a fairweather Volvo from yarmouth on your first trip brings back memories mdf/Mathews.
