Royal Mail Drivers

I saw an advert a couple of years ago for class 1 drivers. £300 gross for a 40 hour week it said…

This is why I’m a little confused by the RM fanboys and their claims that the wages are “sky high”.

Well I guarantee that’s wrong. I did 39 hours last week and took home way more than that.

Really?

Don't need to justify my wage to anyone. Believe what you want, my P60 tells me all I need to know.

As I said you hear things…I know.

You can stop stroking your chin now:

Yes, really. You still haven’t answered what a good rate p/h you think it is?

That looks like a Blue Arrow payslip and all. £16.26 - I would have thought that kind of rate was only available in central London, and only for Saturdays & Sundays at that?

Too many hours there for it to be anything but a single week’s right-through work though.

Ok. Big ask. How TF does one qualify for what seems to be a general agency rate like that? :open_mouth:

I wasn’t getting anywhere near that rate for being a full timer working weekends nights FFS! :open_mouth:

I’m holding my manhood rather cheap right now…

Wrong on all accounts. I do not live in London. This was 1 weeks work. I can show all wages slips but then you don’t believe the truth when it is show to you in black and white. As I said I know and so will some of the other posters.

Do you think I would post on here how to get this, I am not that stupid.

The AWR. After 12 weeks you get parity pay but his will also include the area retention bonus and the night premium split into an hourly rate.
Looking at the overtime rate, he didn’t do any nighttime shifts or the hourly would have been more. Once you hit the 36.25 hours you no longer get the night enhancement.

Ever seen one pulled over - no, me neither. The Untouchables. Nuff said.

police aren’t ALLOWED to pull them  neither if they jump a red light either :sunglasses: queens mail! No touchy = No likey

And what is the pay exactly?

I work for them on Agency and get the same basic hourly rate. How about you give what you think would be a good basic hourly rate and I’ll tell you if your close.

I’ll start you off. It’s higher than the £7.20 hourly basic rate Stobart sees fit to pay their drivers with less than 12 months service, then rising to a whopping £7.75.

Do you know which agency runs RM Hatfield & Park Royal ?

Drivers for you or Jobs @ Pertemps

Good money or not, from what I’ve seen of them they’re still some of the worse and most inconsiderate drivers out on the road !!! …and it doesn’t matter what size vehicle either.

Cheers M1cks

I’m lumbered with Manpower for my local area, who’ve never given me a single shift. My membership has of course since lapsed.

“We’re not taking on drivers for RM” they say. “If you want HIAB then sign here though!” Yeh. RIght. Sub-£10ph work. I’m sure there is always plenty of that kind about.

Roll on Manpower losing the contract, so I can re-approach this situation more positively from another angle… or agency.

If that’s the hourly rate why do they rush. Id stick under the limit and gladly pull into every lay-by all day long to let the que behind me go lol.

If I was asked to name the three worst companies who fail to impress me, it would be B&Q, John Lewis and Royal Mail. They all seem to be driving like blithering idiots in a mad mad rush.

However no-one has asked me so I will keep my thoughts to myself :stuck_out_tongue:

Here we go again…

Another tedious pointless
’ destroy ’ Royalmail thread !

I could go on and give you the same normal reply like…

I take my job seriously and my safety and other road users my top priority when im on the road, blah, blah…

I could also say that I have seen plenty of disgraceful driving by so called ’ professional ’ hgv drivers things like sucidial tailgating and leaving me stranded in lane 2 when I have had the ’ courtesy ’ to move over at a slip road, blah, blah…
The list goes on and on…

But I know it wont get me anywhere because the last time I came on here I was ’ assassinated ’ just because I work for Royalmail and was shown a couple of videos for my sins…

Well I have discovered something else that goes on here and im not suprised at it all, the only thing that suprises me is that I have not read such a disgusting comment sooner , along with all the normal çhildish, idiotic, stupid, abusive comments I have read on this forum…

There is another thread on here about worst drivers on the road and Royalmail was mentioned a few times, and someone mentioned ’ Africans and asians '…

Now in my book that is a racist comment, but then again if somebody was to ask me if they wanted to go on a forum and encounter racist comments along with the biggest load of crap and ■■■■■■■■ that you will ever read, written by idiots and morons…
I would then say…
’ Trucknet ’ its a no-brainer…

Which just goes to show how many sad people are on here…

P.s…

I also need to ask you all a question…

I work for royalmail as a class 1 driver,
I am also half-African…

Should I give my driving job up and take a desk job to improve road saftey ■■?

NO, but if you are a 7.5t driver in Bristol, don’t overtake me on a blind bend, or if you’re a van driver, don’t park where you are causing an obstruction, or reverse into my loading area whilst I’m in the middle of putting a pallet in it and actually walk for a few yards rather than jumping in and out of your van every few yards. Simple really.

That said, I haven’t encountered a badly driven RM artic “yet” but I don’t see many of them of them on the M5.

explains why the vans and trucks have dents all over. never seen a good nick one do you

So none of you ever encounter other bad driving by other truck companies? Regular posts on here about TNT, Hanson…old favourite Stobarts etc., You are all supposed to be professional drivers and not let bad driving get to you. Take avoiding action, slow down and chill. Let them drive badly…carry on as normal and know that you are a better driver…but maybe you aren’t and thats what the problem is.

Travel down the A14 for example at 50mph and you get 90% of trucks on the limiter, mainly container lorries…isn’t this bad driving?

Regular posts on here about “I may have been caught or have been fined for speeding” or stopped by Vosa and fined. None of these posts are by Royal Mail drivers who are not untouchable. So aren’t these posters bad drivers?

In the past few months I have seen a certain Haulage company who have have either had their vehicle/trailer or subby involved in fatal accidents. Can’t recall when a Royal Mail was regularly involved in a serious or fatal accident and they have 10 times more vehicles, so odds are they should have more accidents. So who is the bad driver?

Royal mail drivers best in the world if you ask me
