roping and sheeting

the site stays on normal time , it doesn’t go back with the clocks . it will stay like this until the clocks go forward in spring .

How come this post is 1 hour ahead of time? Is it the single malts at work or are we still on British Summer time.? :open_mouth: :unamused:

you can alter this on user control panel.

Unless you alter your personal time settings on the user control panel, it’s not the site it’s your view of it . Uncheck the DST box.
On user control panel click board preferences, on edit global settings change from yes to no on the DST/ summertime box.

How would you have sheeted this Dennis ?

Hiya “ramone”,I hope you have had a Great Christmas day as I and the Family have had! You can see that the idea is great but they have made a right balls the front, surely they could have made a right tidy job by making an envelope of the sheet. As it looks rain water will run down and inside the sheet, but if they are only Bus enthusiasts they wouldn’t have a lot of idea about sheeting and roping. Cheers Bewick.

I`ve had a good christmas thanks Dennis , glad you have too , but to be fair to the bus lads they do now have to know how to secure their loads … seatbelts !!!

A 1984 depot shot of one of the few Crane Fruehauf tri axles we ran, coupled to a new Sed/Atk unit,at a guess I would think it is a load from the Libby factory next door.

Any of you Bradford lads responsible for this old boy ?

Regards. John.

This Seddon was mine, I had it after Tommy Speight when he got a new one, but it sure didn’t look like that when I had it, it had a lid on top of the cab for the wool trade it carried 110 single bales 4 high, the lettering was done by hand and it was a damned better looking 8 wheeler than that, it was well looked after and was clean, it had a Gardner 150 under the bonnet it also had originally a 2 speed axle made by Seddon themselves, but was removed and changed to a single speed because it was always over-heating and spent too much time in the garage, it was originally bought by JG Fielder before Chapman,s bought them out, one problem it did have was the gear stick used to break off at the base which always did it when stopped at traffic lights or a junction when fully loaded, but it’s best point was it had “power steering” which was a luxury in the 1960’s, it also had ratchets for the wool trade on the back for the longbines which went from top front of the lid over the cab to the back to get more tension ususaly with a pole to give it more tension on the ropes, but in general it was a good looking motor in the 1960’s but like everything Chapman messed it all up just like Magee did with A1 Transport. J Graham.

Hiya,
Glad I don’t have to take it like that, at least I’d make a tidy job of roping and
sheeting before departure wouldn’t like folks to think I was an amateur.
thanks harry, long retired.

next time i see the lad that was driving it i will ask him i no he had been collecting wool round ■■■■■■■ think i ended up at carlisle

Talk about roping and sheeting I found this in my files how many of you remember these lads

Hi . This is a load of jute out of Dundee which was D&D Transports main work. I beleive there was quite an art in loading the said product, sacks, carpet backing etc, looks like some rolls on the top of the sheet for a quick tip just down the road.
Cheers Leyland 600.

I did not think there was any record of my sheeting but this one I have hold my hands up too and I have had the book it is scanned from for about 30 years

I was talking to the lad who took the photo as he had been waiting to get a shot of the Samson which was still quite new at the time the mate Dougie is uncoupling the air lines

cheers Johnnie

Thought it was a bit dangerous to own up to that when Dennis is on line!
