roping and sheeting

One of four single wheeled TASK tandems stood in the depot at Milnthorpe loaded with 20 ton of paper for the South, I had these trailers built as tri axle chassis without the fron’t axle but ready to have a third axle fitted which we eventually had fitted. These particular trailer spent most of their time running out of the Devon Valley mill at Hele, light loads of paper outward and 20ton of pulp back to the Mill. Bewick.

If I was using someone else’s sheets I would occasionly put the front sheet on first then roll it back on itself to allow me to place the rear sheet on & position knowing all was well.

BACK SHEET ON FIRST,FRONT SHEET ON LAST,Norman croad,Torquay…

Hiya,
Norman, now once or twice in my time on the road I recall loading multi-packs
a rare forklift job in my case, and because of the wet conditions have had to
sheet up as the load progressed, which mean’t put the fore sheet on first and
the aft sheet on last of course folding the fore sheet forward before putting
the rear on a bit of a fiddle but when needs must and the load must have to be
kept dry the driver can get ■■■■■■ through but not the load, should have had
those new fangled curtainsiders back in the 50s I might not have been quite so
knackered as I am now, Ah’ well.
thanks harry, long retired.
