Robinsons of Worcester

charliemjp:
like the comment on the combine muckaway, the one lad on Robinsons told me he was gilders before.

Shouldn’t “Gilders” be “Gliders?” They fly about everywhere!
Going back to the pink trucks, if they ran 8wheelers around here, they’d soon get a cv from me. The grain issue is the only negative comment I’ve ever heard about them.

On the contaminants front, They are not alone. I worked on farms before driving trucks, and I took delivery of a load of Trafford Gold ( animal feed ) once that was contaminated with bark! Needless to say I rejected the load. I was also sent a trailer to load wheat, that had been used for what looked like some oiley material, as the floor of the trailer had oil stains on it. It all boils down to the driver. As I used to work in Agriculture, I keep my trailer spotless on the inside. I dont have my own trailer, so I inherit trailers which sometimes - internally are in a shocking state. I brush it out, and wash as required. Some drivers dont do the same, but I have my conscience, and therefore when I arrive to load anywhere, I get an inspection and signature to confirm that it meets the customers requirements. Some drivers dont.
On the Robinsons front. You couldnt work for much better people. Agreed, the work is hard, and you have to be on the ball with getting to locations, and time management. On the plus side the variation of jobs and locations visited is huge - both home and abroad. The kit is good, and getting better. The money is paid like clockwork. On the negative side, If your not a fan of PINK, then that aspect may grate. If you cant manage time or navigation then you will be a fish out of water.
The biggest plus for me is the guys that I work with. I have worked with some really quality drivers over my life, and its these that make the difference for me. The drivers I work with are some of the best I have worked with. We all get on, and have a laugh. You ring up asking for directions, or opening times, and will get a positive response. Its a bit like a family - a bit like trucknet■■?

They have had much worse than your firm’s rogue driver in most quarries lightning. I heard about it up this way because the local blokes weren’t happy at having to wash their trailer bodies out when they only carry aggregates. It wasn’t meant as a slur on your outfit, just a tongue in cheek remark.
Cheers Dave.

Sorry dave, I wasnt having a dig. I have to agree that its a chore washing out, and that was all down to the acts of an inconsiderate sod or two. As for banging the company drum, well if those that didnt care were replaced by people like you and I, then things would be/ get better.

They need to learn how to sweep grain out of the trailers before entering quarries :exclamation:

I take it Tarmac have been running a combine over the stockpiles then, Dave?

Every artic the enters the quarry has to wash out, because of one of theirs still having grain in the body.

It’s only a load of [zb] stone, what harms a few grains of wheat gonna do?!

its easy for everybody to blame robinsons

i work for robinsons and i take pride in were i work we shouldnt all be jugded the same

Happens everywhere YamYam, one idiot ruins things for all the others. As I’ve said before, no bad comments from my work when your lot tip there.

One Sportsman taking drugs ruins it for all the others. One Mp ( or several■■? ) contaminates the entire parliament by fiddling their expenses. One poor excuse for a coach driver ruins a hen party. One group of the population ie Bankers bankrupt the country. It should come as no suprise that one errant truck driver’s actions create more work for the rest.

AS FAR AS ROBINSONS DRIVERS CONCERNED WE NEVER HAVE ANY PROB, CERTAIN TIMES WE HAVE 3 TO 4 A DAY. AT MOMENT WE HAVE A LOT BUILDING WORK GOING ON AND YARD IS RUFF , BUT THEY NEVER MOAN . ON OTHER HAND IF THEY ARRIVE AT 5 FOR 4 30 DEADLINE WE TIP THEM IT WORKS BOTH WAYS. SAME WITH ADAMS DRIVERS TIDY BUNCH .

As you may or may not know im on bulkers too
As with most things now there is a tracabilty on most loads due to the paperwork involved and yes I have heard of wheat sprouting in new builds.
But now all my work is non TASSC even so I will always clean the body through for the next load or man to carry on with as I change trailers on a daily basis. Its old habits that die hard ive always cleaned the trailer out and always will no matter what I carry.

Most of the drivers that work for us do keep trailers clean and look after them. It’s only the slip ups of one or two that caused problems. But then we all get tarnished with the same brush.

I’ve slipped up before and contaminated a load, (not the ones mentioned above) it cost me big so now I’m vigorous with my trailer cleanliness. Maybe it takes something to happen to change, but we shouldn’t get the blame for everyone.

Have any of the Robinson boys got info on what the new 8wheelers will be doing out Rugby way? I know someone whos got an interview tomorrow (no, not me, too far to travel).

There is one 8 wheeler tipper that will be based in Southam running between Southam and Cemex at Rugby…Plus 11 arctics doing the same. Hope this helps!
