Rob K's week at work

Rob K:
While I’m on the subject of my diary I’ve been mulling over knocking a book up like Neil’s done, with all new content of course but colour pics and books don’t go together well in terms of production costs so would anyone be interested in future diaries on CD-ROM ?

[1] Did you eventually buy Neil’s book then, eh?

[2] I’m interested in the cd-rom Rob. What would the cost be?

Cheers,
Paul.

Sounds like a good idea. Then I can play the CD-Rom whilst at work !!

Not bought Neil’s book yet despite looking at Ebay at every opportunity. :sunglasses:

No idea of cost yet but it will be very reasonable for the work involved in compiling it.

I got mine for £7.60 +p&p from Brown’s Books. Surely you can spare around a tenner? Neil needs to make ends meet somehow

he does now to pay all his german speeding fines

Rob, one of the benefits of using PDF files is that they can have colour images imbedded in them…

Right… That’s interesting then.

So, not much response so far. Is it going to be a waste of my time then? :frowning:

Depends on how you look at it Rob.

I’ve used PDF files in the past to record an exact copy of what has been on a web forum for example, including photos.

However, it is your own personal preference of course. You’ll probably find out that web pages might work for you better with photos attached aside the text.

Good luck though

Rob K:
Is a pdf file an Adobe Acrobat thingy? If so, I have Adobe Acrobat Reader…

I think Acrobat Reader is exactly that, a program that enables you read only. If you wanna create PDFs, as I remember you need the full Acrobat software which, from a quick Google search, is about 150 quid, give or take.

Yes. The Adobe Acrobat ‘Reader’ program is free to download allowing you to open any .pdf file.

Jesus christ, you’re not wrong there. You can buy a new computer for that much!

some versions of Serif pageplus can create PDF files :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Open Office is a free, open source office suite to rival microsoft office etc It is a free download (quite large so you would need broadband) It creates amongst other things PDF files.

Over the past few months I’ve received a number of PM’s from folks saying that the pic links have been dead. This has been because I do some re-arranging of the files on my site where the pics were hosted. It was a long and tedious task but all the pic links have been changed and should all be back to normal.
