Road Rage -How do you deal with it(without getting the sack)

I just hide the body, that way I’ll never get the sack :smiling_imp:

When I was younger I was pretty volatile and was out of the cab every day to some [zb]. Then I realised I was actually adding to MY stress levels and learned to to let most of it wash over me with only the occasional lapse on my part. Now I’m too old for it!

^^ This.

And after a few years, win or lose, getting hit still hurts and I didn’t like it.

I’m not a push over and will have a rumble if required, it’s just not required as often as it used to be - thank god

Best way to deal with it?
Don’t cause it…

How??

I had priority over oncoming traffic?? the car that went though before the van took a chance. I stopped just before the van caused a crash.

Being a professional lorry driver I avoided a crash. I got a good 5 mins of abuse before I switched my camera on.

I’ve been in the Mexican stand off situations a few times over the years, if someone is being an arse and refusing to give way when they should have, I just turn the engine off, put my feet up and start reading the paper…it generally does the trick

Tried that first but… it didn`t work hence the video.

My brother was in a similar situation once. The way he dealt with it was to get his coffee machine out of the overhead locker, set it up ostentatiously on the dash, wind his window down and say to the beetroot - red car driver “do you want some coffee? I’m having one.” The bloke slunk back to his car and moved without further comment.

this works best for me…camera on,please stop verbally abusing me and using intimidating behaviour towards me sir/madam.,camera paused, now call him/her whatever derogatory, racist ,chauvanistic comments you wish ,and when the shock of what you just sold them registers with there eyes widening and there mouth strting to open for the tirade of abuse your about to recieve…camera back on to film the reaction…followed by the inevitable…ive absolutely no idea what your talking about orificer, surely the camera dosent lie,and i object to the spurious allegations being made about my politically correct behaviour in a confrontational situation.i was in fear of my personal safety with the other person behaving in a particulary aggresive, threatening manner towards me,and filmed them accordingly for my own protection in case they decided to take further action in the vain attempt to pervert the course of any police involvement.due to the fact that you have now contacted me,then i further assume you will now persue the complainant with wasting police time, and take the required action to prosecute said complainant accordingly…

You done the right thing. Just stay cool and chalk it up to experience. Plenty of witnesses there so I would of said I’m calling the Police. After all he was causing an obstruction and being verbally abusive, insulting and threatening and you felt fear for your safety.

Apparently pathetic and unnecessary behaviour from the other guy, though we don’t know what sort of day or life he was having. I would have tried a little to bend over backwards and let it go, but might get a bit aggrieved depending on what sort of day I was having. Still, one shouldn’t encourage poor and selfish driving. I like the idea of having your own phone number on the vehicle though.

Only problem with that idea is that the camera will time stamp the files, so if you switch it on/off/on the camera will note the time difference in the files

So the van was following a car that was going through, priority is ok, but sometimes you can see someone is going to chance it, so just ease off and let them get on with it.

I mean, how often have you started to go onto a roundabout, and someone’s been coming all the way round, no indicator or they were behind the stupid trees they put in the middle or whatever, you’re still in the wrong and just give them a little apology wave and carry on.

I rarely have trouble with road rage because of the way I drive, ie relaxed, but sometimes it happens because driving a 44t vehicle means you are going to ■■■■ someone off sometimes, then you just throw an orange at their head or hit them with your crowbar surely? :smiling_imp:

I did, thats my final stopping postion. If I wanted to prove a point I would of wrote the car off.

easiest way to deal with road rage and not get the sack is to become an owner driver,
its highly entertaining when someone rings the number on my door to complain and i answer the phone

Excellent  :stuck_out_tongue:

Any funny stories about this??

not really, it can be quite funny though looking down at some grumpy pensioner in a car going into detail about how your vehicle cut them up (even though you know you didnt) i usually just say the driver of that truck is the best one we have and i find it hard to believe they would do anything wrong :sunglasses:

but having the mobile number on the door doesnt always work in my favour, i,ve had a couple of calls off queer fellas driving past asking if i would like any company :open_mouth:

Normal day on the job.

Bet it was near London, that place is full of ■■■■■.

There’s a reverse camera fitted on my truck and its amazing when you point it out to said mad man that he’s being recorded and you’re sending the evidence to the police they back down, even though its a reverse camera and not forward facing and recording. Done it once and the knobs face was a picture

Fair play Jimbo, you handled it well.
