road legal?

I believe that its not a drivers responsibility for the MOT…Tax…Insurance…O licence or indeed the 6 weekly check…but all down to the owner of the vehicle…However…its such an easy solution to remedy.

  1. carry replicas of all documents as we have to on an international journey.
  2. for the mot…insurance…surely a windscreen sticker could be sent along with the documents when renewed.
  3. there is a windscreen disc issued for that anyway.
  4. no one is interested in a vehicles taxation when abroad…as most countries charge an additional fee anyway…Except for a car, which has to be taxed in order to not pay a toll ie belgium… i knew a driver who was sent back to the port for not having a current tax disc in his truck windscreen…think it all changed when the vignette was introduced.
Remember the days when an mot was issued…so was the blue triangle for the windscreen…and i say…bring back the tax disc…and force insurers to do the same…just with the dates on…no need for a price.

I have caught the occasion trailer with an out of date MOT disc and reported. Of course they didn’t believe me since they don’t do that but they do when its an oversight.
I have checked tax online once before taking a unit out but that was more curiosity than concern. I have no way of checking the units MOT or insurance though. Fleet vehicles SHOULD be ok but hire units are definitely a concern

No they’re not. How many times do people have to say it? I’t’s not your responsibility as an employed driver, it’s all down to the employer.

I once bought a car got it taxed insured etc. Was stopped by police about 3 days after purchased it. For having no insurance. Said just got it insured 2 days ago. Had walk home got all details to show them. They aren’t impressed I was telling the truth. . Anyway they said should carry insurance and mot around. As it can take about a month for there system to update details

A month for the MID to up date ■■? I do all my own and at the max it’s 2 or 3 days, same for the mot and tax !!!

If it’s “all checkable” why bother carrying replica documents…?
