In my opinion its about time action was taken by the EU to maintain a more level playing field. Regulating every thing in our daily lives, especially as far as transport is concerned is the EU’s speciality so it shouldn’t be hard to put some sort of mechinism in place to halt the decimation of western European international transportation by the chronic under-cutting that comes from the eight new eastern European countries that were forced onto us and most of whom’s trucks have increased by 70-100% on our roads in the space of one year of joining the EU, thats an incredible increase, especially when we take into account that the vast majority of that freight will never touch their home countries but is likely to be transported between two western European countries at the direct expense of British haulage and the haulage industry at the receiving end.
