Returning To UK

robbbie:
I really cannot say enough about how bad Canada is.Just look at the three Russians that jumped to their deaths in Glasgow this summer rather than be deported back to Canada where they had been living.I think that says it all.

:open_mouth:
Are you sure that was’nt ā€˜fell’ to their deaths after getting into a drinking contest with the Glaswegians.
And if Scotland is better than Canada how is it that so many of the Scottish went to Canada .:question:Although having said that even the descendents of the convicts we shipped to OZ won’t let us into the place now either.

robbbie:
Absolutly return to the U.K.Let’s face it Canada is nothing but white empty space. The people are the rudest on the planet. This is not what I say but what the hotel owners in Florida say. They actually had a proposition to ban Canadians from their hotels due to their rudeness.Canada is for Canadians. That is if you dont want a life but love working 60 to 90 hours a week Canada is for you.If you are a trucker then it is 100 to 168 hours a week.Canada has no culture , no character.absolutly nothing going for it.To top it all off the weather is a nightmare.British weather is paradise in comparison. In contrast to Canadians Americans are friendly and stand up for what they believe in.I know all this from experience.I have lived in the Far East,Canada, the U.S.A. and spent considerable time in Germany ,France and Australia. The U.K. is by far and away the best country to live in.That is for those that have an interest in history and culture and proper sports. Those Brits that live there and go on about how great it is are terrified of admitting they made a mistake moving there or they are in fact Canadians.Dull,dull,dull.You also have to keep in mind that Canada is very much a backwater. It’s especially funny to hear about people that claim Edmonton is a great place to live.Even Canadians say it is their dullest city. When the winter Olympics were on it had the unenviable reputation as a place to avoid like the plague.I really cannot say enough about how bad Canada is.Just look at the three Russians that jumped to their deaths in Glasgow this summer rather than be deported back to Canada where they had been living.I think that says it all.

Thanks Robbie for the reply, i took it all in, you are quite right about the lack of culture, character & history. As for rudeness i think its more a case of bluntness and the willingness to complain which canadians do very well.
I stopped doing 90+hrs a week long back.
The summers are hot dry which i like, the mosqutos still love the british blood no matter what i put on.
Winters i try to embrace but its hard, had a particularey nasty winter last year, only a cople of feet of snow but very col and stupid wind which is what gets you. As for edonton bieng dull i have not spent enough time there to know. I do know apart from the mall its nothing special. You want dull coe to saskatoon. we got a zoo thats free in the winter, there is nothing in there that you cant see on the side of the road.lol
Sounds as though you had more of a bad time here than me
Thanks for your input i do apprecate it and it made me smile. Thank you

Wouldn’t normally bother to reply to this tripe, but as it’s popular topic I have to give my opinion. For a start, the guy has lived in many parts of the world but stills ends up in Glasgow,no pleasing him eh ? I agree that some of the older folk here can appear to be a bit rude/impolite but does that really matter ? Not to me. As for Canada being a big white empty space, that is just ignorance and proof that the guy just wants to sit on his arse in front of the TV instead of getting out and about, even in mid-winter at -40 there’s lots to do.Truth be told the climate hasn’t changed much in the recent decades so why did Robbie come here if he doesn’t like the cold ? Regarding working practices,I’ve had a couple of different jobs since arriving ,and I do probably work harder now but the rewards and opportunities are far greater ,it’s my choice to bust a gut as and when required, because I know the benefits far out way hard graft.
Came home from work 2 nights ago, blinding snowstorm, highway was pure ice and struggled to do 50kph,sure it wasn’t ideal but living in Canada it’s to be expected at this time of year,do I moan and whine ? No,that happened 2 nights ago and I’m living for today and thoroughly enjoying the ride.

So roobbbiiiee has come up with yet another sterling post…

You know, I not only doubt his veracity in his statement of where he has lived, but I doubt everything he says. You see, he has shot himself in the foot so many times that he is not even funny anymore.

I am not Canadian, and I am proud of where I came from, but I am also proud that I managed to turn a dream from my teens into reality. I do work hard, yes, but I choose to and that is what makes a tremendous difference. I can choose to here, while the UK has stopped you from being able to make that choice. All this nonsense about POA and WTD, not to mention DCPC, simply doesn’t exist here so you can work if you choose to.

Obviously, robbbbbbbbeeeeiiiieee has no wish to work, considers tha WTD to be blasphempus because it has that 4 letter word ā€œworkā€ in it. Obviously, he has no ability to live in the real world.

Canadians are not rude, unless you are. OK, so Edmonton people often are not the nicest, or Calgarians for that matter, but if anyone seriously thinks that many Glaswegians are not far better at rudeness then there is serious delusionment going on. The headbutt isn’t called the Glaswegian Kiss for nothing.

Canada is not a white wasteland, either. The summers can be spectacular, and we don’t get 3 weeks of sunshine then get slapped with a hosepipe ban. The winters are cold, I agree, but you adapt to that and they are actually the best time of the year.

All in all, not up to your usual rant, rrrrrooobbbbbbiiiiieee, but not bad. Keep taking the meds and maybe, one day, you will have a mind of your very own to hold and cherish.

Round one to ā€œTHE DOGā€,predict a knockout before the end of the second !

Canada a white wasteland?

Obviously our mate robbie didn’t get around much while he was here, BC is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on Earth, the Rockies are pretty spectacular, the prairies can be a little dull, ok very dull, but that’s agricutural land, what do you expect, even those provinces are different if you dare to venture more than a 100kms north of the US border, yes even Saskatchewan  Lake Manitoba and the Hudson Bay are real nice places to visit, then there’s Ontario, postcard Canada, love em or hate em, but the Quebecois have themselves a pretty decent place to live and then there’s the Maritimes with their New England interior and picturesque coastline, a wasteland, I think not :unamused:

I think poor old robbie has been eating these

     The question is how did those ā€˜skills’ get lost from the previous generations of Scots who ā€˜moved’ (were shipped out by the English after Culloden) to Canada.Or maybe it’s just that even the Red Coats were too scared of the Glaswegians to deport them all.

Nah, they hid in the tunnels in Edinburgh, then when the winter came along, the redcoats that were left behind were all ancestors of rrrrrrrooooobbeeiiiieee and didn’t like the weather so they went back south, then the Glaswegians just moved back to Glasgow.
