Long time lurker - first time poster (go easy on me )
After reading various posts on TruckNet over the last few months, I’ve managed to pass my cat ‘C’ and the ‘C+E’ with the help and guidance offered on here.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, my objective from the beginning (before I even went for my medical), was to get my licences, and relocate myself somewhere else in the UK.
Where I live the chances of landing a driving job are virtually nil, this is why I decided before I spent any money at all that my future lay away from where I live. I wasn’t going to spend £2000+ all in, and have no chance of any driving work where I live.
So, here I am on the final leg of the journy, I understand it’s not easy finding driving work anywhere in the country at the moment, but I’m in a fortunate position that I am able to relocate myself. Which leads me to my question… Where would be a good place for me to relocate to??
The areas I’m looking into are NW England, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, West midlands, East Midlands.
The area I’m thinking of moving to at the moment is the Warrington area. Is this wise? Just thought that its quite a central location for numerous urban locations.
Are there any other areas I should consider? I’m not kidding myself - it’s not going to be easy. Hoping to get a start to begin with on an agency’s books in either a 7.5t or a CAT ‘C’. Then maybe if I’m lucky in the future get to use my class 1.

Another central(ish) location that you might consider is the Crick/Northampton area, but I’ve no idea of what’s going on there at the moment.
Thanks dieseldave, I’ll look into it.
Harry Monk:
There’s a sort of triangle that encompasses the area between Coventry, Leicester and Milton Keynes, that’s the place to look.
Thanks to you too Harry Monk, sounds like a good area to look at.
I’ve just got a start at reed boardall at boroughbridge, they took me on after just passing my class 1. Leeds is only 30 mins away so you could go there

No problem, I start a week Monday so looking forward to it
I know its not central etc, but the south east offerers some good areas for driving opportunities. Im based in Essex, and Tilbury docks is just up the road with alot of operators running out of there, plus near grays/purfleet which offers alot of warehousing and transport industry.

Thanks for the info Ben. The only thing worrying me about moving too far south would be the cost of accommodation. I’ll do the sums on it still though, a starts a start - even if it might cost me a bit more…
