alix i was refuring to "“itsons haulage”"matey… a 460 fh… been chipped to around 600bhp i aint getting into debates on it but it seems a little steep… poss 100 bhp tops from a re~chip"normally around 50bhp"be very hard pushed i think to get over or around 140bhp , from just a single re~chip. but thats just me a thinking a loud boss

sorry glooby missed that post the joys of a pocket pc to check websites sorry mate

143-500
its not something that’s done everyday but something we tried just to see what it would do if you know what I mean sometimes you have to try things out but seriously even taking it easy it will still under the right conditions spin out with the slightest touch of the gas pedal what a tool (the truck is)

sorry glooby missed that post the joys of a pocket pc to check websites sorry mate I see what you mean tha does seam a bit heavy from a chip on a 12 litre though I have heard rumours of scania taking a 12litre 420 to 1600bhp yes 1600bhp before it blew up just to see how far they could push it on a bench

yep i know what you mean alix. the globby i have is the same at 44t its a bloody joke some days spinning its arse end, the chip we had was supposed to be 40 bhp it was put on the rollers at feather diesel and it came out at 483 bhp, then it went into VOLVO “aaargh” for a few injector sleeves fitting it came back from x~ roads popping and ■■■■■■■ … 8k engine re~build later as they bent a con rod and total [zb] it up !!! got it back after it was re~built by x~roads got to end of the road from them turned round and drove it straight back into them i could even get it to pull in high box “tractor only”
ooooh it must have been like that they said before it came in ■■?, plus its just had all new pistons / liners / big ends etc fitted "SO!!! "the thing would pull up wind hill at 44t with just half a split it, never came out of top gear before it went to those idiots at x~roads, and they say oh it must have been like that before it came in here  , so after 4 weeks of them [zb] and ■■■■■■■ around again with it,it came back to us with another feather rolling road print out!!! 445 bhp aaaaaaaargh!!! where has the other 40 odd bhp gone i said , one of the bosses from x~roads was there and turned round and said its above volvo spec and that is that good bye, and the motor now is a bag of pooo to what it weas before those clowns / muppets / cranks / idiots got hold of it, the fitter what did the damage LEFT a few weeks after this i wounder why■■? daz

if you need to put stars to get past the auto censor, it’s a clue that it’s not allowed  …Denis F

sorry may have mislead you. superchips used to do 4 types of chips for fh12 460.No.1 460-480,No.2 460-520,No.3 460-550,N0.4 460-590.i had the No.4 chip with new injectors plus the tweeked the pump this gave 600bhp at the flywheel.have been told this is what is know as the “standard” irish spec.only problem was wheel spin wet or dry.p.s injectors and pump tweek were extra.total cost was about £2k.the only reason i had the injectors done was mine were shot.a company called d.m.i had 6 of theirs done at the same time and superchips used to use their before and after charts on their web site

aaah that is it itsons, i was thinking not with just a chip thanks for letting us know top man  ,daz

Here’s something else for you to try Paul :exclamation: :exclamation:
Its called Millers oils “Diesel power plus” fuel additive, you add about 1 litre to every 500l of diesel at fill up time.I have just used it for the last 2/3 fill ups and I swear that the truck feels as if its got 20 more horse :exclamation: :exclamation: It is supposed to clean your injectors and lube up the fuel pump and the whole fuel system.
For instance today I hauled 10 loads (loaded both ways happy days) 5 of which where taken up to the Blackmountain quarry to the North of Belfast, its quite a steep climb up and the Foden was going up it a split higher than what it was doing before Christmas, its holding the revs longer too.
Look up www.millersoils.co.uk

i have notice of some Actros 1857 chipped at 630 hp that has 930000 on tacho without problem.
But increase the output motor from 460 hp to 600 is not dangerous for the drive line built for 460 hp and 2300 nm torque ■■

Paul b,
A friend of mine has just traded his FL10 8 wheeler for a fresh ERF ECS 8 wheeler (ex Tarmac O/D) with a 340hp ■■■■■■■ m11.He would like a bit more “poke” say around 380hp and I was telling him about you saying that ■■■■■■■ will update the ECU for a few hundred.
When you say ■■■■■■■ I take it you mean an ERF dealer or are there actually ■■■■■■■ specialists on the mainland?

no i mean ■■■■■■ them selves, which for me is leeds, nothing to do with ERF, simply the factory that puts the engines together, be aware this is not a rechip it is done by them plugging a laptop into the daash and remapping at a cost of £285 or so i’ve been told. the difference being they can only alter engine power to a max for the engine design at sale i.e a 380 to 405 but power trucks will rechip the same ec11 to 420 but at a higher cost.

Thanks guy’s,
good to know there is a ■■■■■■■ agent in Dublin and I’ll pass the details on to my mate.
My M11 is at 440hp standard and I take it ■■■■■■■ wouldn’t “push” it any further?
I don’t know if it would be a good idea to let Powertrucks take an 11 litre engine past 440hp,although I’ve heard of guy’s having their 11 litre Renault Premiums chipped up to 500hp :open_mouth: :exclamation: :exclamation:

Mines at 460 bhp with a full renault warranty, the later ones were upped to 480 with the same. Saying that they’re lazy horses, and it’s only a good 430 iirc

Yes Paul its a ISM11 standard at 440hp,when you talk about the ■■■■■■■ topping out at 420hp I think your really thinking about current ISME 420hp that you can spec in new Foden/ERF’s

i was talking about the m11engine used in the ec range, the job ■■■■■■■ will do is to alter the mapping i.e from 380 to 405 which were variables they offered at sale, power trucks will rechip and recommend 420 max for the engine,
the ism11 engine in the exc’s and fodens is a different setup although obviousley both 11 litre, as you say went upto 440 as standard.
as far as i know if your mates wagon is an ec8 it’s an 8 litre engine and maybe already at the max @340

Detroit Diesel does the same. For the series 60 you can go from around 330hp to 500 hp with the same 12.7 l.though you don’t have to go through the factory.Any dealer can plug in and turn up the power.there are after market products that will getyou 600+ hp from this engine with no increase in fuel consumption…all true but the guys I know who have done this upgrade can’t keep the cylinder heads from leaking :unamused:

thats the thing, such as ■■■■■■■ know a little bit about their engines and set the bhp to be adequate for the job with the intention that the engine will be capable of doing a million miles, which many have, no doubt they could’ve setup the ec11 at 500 out of the crate but would they have sold so many if they had engine probs after a couple of hundred thousand k?
i suppose this rechipping idea is part of the modern way of buying and running trucks, a fleet operater will buy a dozen new wagons but will only intend to run em for three years and then move em on, low budget operaters like myself will buy one of those and even then probably only expect to run it for a year or two before replaceing it. perhaps the days when someone would run a wagon from new for eight or ten years are gone.
