RDC's name and shame (or praise)

worst I’ve ever been to has to be m&s but I’m not sure where it was, deffo south - watford maybe? Rude, unhelpful and in some (most) cases, useless staff. A long walk through a warehouse to get to goods in who weren’t even slightly interested. I’ve never seen such an inefficient place before and hope to never have the displeasure again :imp:

worst LIDL NEWTON AYCLIFFE

arrived at 930 went and stood in the cold for 15 minutes outside the booking window which has no shelter. once the woman in there decided i had turned blue enough she handed me a pager saying she would buzz me when there is a bay avalible.

when i got back in the cab at 950

then again at 1021 the elddis truck came in after me so local hauliers must have priority :stuck_out_tongue:

then again at 1050

then again at 1110

finally got on a bay at 1130. why the ■■■■ did i have to wait 2 hours to get a bay when the other 39 bays that were there not being used !!! then when you go up and question it you get told you have a bad attitude. when i did get on a bay there was loads of room inside and they wonder why we get infuriated

it seems too me that most of the RDC’S have improved no end since i was doing them back in the late eighty’s early ninety’s with tescos magor and crick by far the worset, im glad i dont go near them anymore and havent for meny’s a yr, over here they are all fairly good except for lidl mullingar & charlaville which i think are in compition with each other for being the worest…

Currently stuck at Tesco Middlewich. 20 drivers are squeezed in their waiting room with only enough seats for 12 people. It like a cattle truck.
Nisa Scunthorpe again gets the thumbs up from me. Never had any probs and best of all you can stay in your truck.

Suedehead:
Perhaps this should be in the “Driver Myths” thread - has any one on here actually [zb] a staff member of an Rdc ?

yep morrisons wakefield, ko’d the ambient supervisor after he grabbed me buy the arm for refusing to split the pallets down.

I am quite surprised actually how much praise there is in this thread, not all these places are as bad as we normally make out.

So like the best cuppa or best cafe competitions, we should have a CM or TruckNet plaque awarded every year to the best one.

strange, we normally just hand in paper work, she checks it then we go straight round chill, fresh and ambient bays and tip it,never had to wait for a bay, have to wait a hour or two for paper work sometimes as our loads are that many products, been doing it reguarly,3-4 times a week lately and never waited for a bay ,thats the ambient as well as were only allowed on bay 30

Hello all
i could never judge a NDC by how much you’re kept waiting around, (i’m a container driver, i love waiting around) always judge a place by the facilities and the poeple.
Good: Tesco’s lichfield, free tea/coffee/orange decent people and when you drive out the back gate there the best night out spot, eg, nobody else around, v quiet.
Bad: Sainsbury waltham abbey, forced to sit in the tea room (if you can call it that, 6 plastic seats and a bog) whilst other curtainsider and box drivers have feet up in cab
Ugly: Morrisons swan vallet, well it needs a vallet, vending machine always broke, and usual wincanton misserable $%£8!!!

While working for ACS&T, i had the privilege of working with one of the nicest blokes in the industry by the name of Pete Debieux. We were both at Tesco chepstow at the same time, me having arrived first. So I’m sitting like a good boy in the waiting room while they tipped the load and pete walks in with his keys telling them what bay he’s on. “Sit down and we’ll tell you when it’s ready” to which he replies, "YOU CAN FOXTROT OSCAR, I stopped being told what to do by rectums when I left school ! Yes they did tip the load

Hi im a bit new to all this rdc lark but certainly wasnt impressed with dairycrest Nuneaton booking time 14.00 eventual tip started 21.00 on a saturday and this was after numerous empty promises ie will tip you in an hour, half hour, 45 minutes i finally expressed the fact that i felt like crying and didnt know what sentence i could string together to express the hatred/disapointment i was feeling. This may have helped or it was just my time, im sure this gave them a great laugh but i certainly wasnt fussed about the loss of diginty just had to try anything to get it off. I spoke with other drivers who tip there and apparently 2 hours over booking times the norm. As i said im new to all this rdc lark and wouldnt be suprised if this story isnt even worth recalling.

While doing this sort of work I always had a cut off time in my head so I could make it somewhere to stop OR get home. Don’t allow them to dictate to you or you’ll spend your life in there. 7 hours in Iceland Enfield finished me with being reasonable. :imp:

tesco livingston by far the best ive been to. friendly staff, clean and war waiting areas and plenty of space to park

morrisons bellshill -nuff said

It would take a few brave men, but if you are not tipped within 2 hours anywhere, we should just drive off the bay anyway, there is no need for it to take longer than 30 minutes to tip 26 pallets, the warehouse staff then have the rest of the day to count it, check it, or steal it.

A delivery note states 26 pallets, then that is what they are signing for, not 30,000 fizz bombs and then having to count them individually.

If the truck is security sealed at the loading point, then unsealed at the delivery, the driver hasn’t nicked anything, any discrepancy or quality issues can be taken up with the supplier at a later date or before the next order is placed.

Ady1 you want try working for the coop at Birtley everybody is just treat like crap.

coop birtley must have changed big time since i last had the misfortune to visit,i used to tip there regulerly about 10 yrs ago,at the goods in office they had a big cardboard sign up saying NO TELEPHONE,NO CANTEEN,NO TOILETS,they really liked to make you feel welcome, and if you went on a monday morning after newcastle had lost over the weekend, you had no chance of a good tip.the lad behind the goods in window would take great delight in starting to do your notes, then say its break now and slam the the window shut.so you had to wait another 30 mins.apart from swanley this was the worst coop we did at the time.

That must have been the old site Rich.New site may be ok to unload just not to work there.

Is this the kiss of death ■■?
I think the way you address the security has a lot to bear on the time you are in the RDC I am sure they lias with the warehouse etc the LONGEST I have had to wait is 90 mins the shortest Morrisons Wakefield 26 mins in tipped and out Tesco Bolton 27 mins Sainsburys Basinstoke 90 mins but the coffee is half decent

I arrived at Sainsbury, Charlton at 19.08 for a 20.00 booking this evening and I pulled out at 21.35 because I was out of hours at 22.00, there were still seven in front of me.

This was a “consolidation load” too, among which were 14 pallets of nappies, a “must never run out of” line for all supermarkets, I know that by pulling out, the knock-on effect will be that hundreds of shoppers will find Sainsbury’s shelves empty of their most important purchase this week and will shop elsewhere for nappies on this occasion, and possibly every time they shop in future, and I know that I have caused thousands of pounds worth of loss to Sainsbury by pulling out tonight.

Still, never mind, eh!

Deleted, double post.
