Ralph Davies driver

I was more interested in why drivers feel it necessary to abuse us for no reason. .

You don’t think 'Big Jases comments about truckers on the 2Q thread has anything to do with it do you?

Mike , you mentioned abuse on a daily basis. I have heard of English drivers that drove for a foreign firm. They arrive at a depot in England to unload or reload.
The fork lift drivers or goods in staff make snotty comments about the driver and abuse the driver assuming he is a foreigner.
The driver hears the abuse and then speaks to them English.
Watching them scarper with embarassment.

I have done this a few times when I was on for the foreigners. I was sat listening to two cabbages in an RDC once slagging me off, ‘‘bloody foreigners coming over here’’ etc I, sat listening with a vacant stare forward, got my notes and said ‘‘well see you lads, I’m off now’’ their face was a picture
To get back to the o/p what’s with all the hostility on here to the womble guy, have I missed something, he was only doing his job ffs.

^^ive been in this situation a few times myself when working for a Swedish company and a Dutch company, at loading/delivery places, it is funny to see the look on their faces.
Around 03.00am coming up the A2 slip road from M25 once, driving a Swedish registered motor, caught 2 motors of the same firm, unfortunatly cant remember which firm, one driver said to the other on the cb 'i will slow this Dutch C u next Tuesday down, where the slip road (this was when you had to go down to the roundabout and turn left and up the slip road) joins the A2, he pulled straight out into the middle lane at about 25mph, as they were both heavy, probably fully freighted, i was empty, the bloke in middle lane was laughing on the cb, so i just pulled over into the 3rd lane slowed down beside him got on the cb and said ‘that didnt work very well did it you twonk, and if you look at the writing on the cab it says Sweden and not Holland’ the look on the drivers face was priceless, so with a cheery wave and a ‘see you later tossers’ on the cb, i put my foot down straight up to the limiter and never saw them again or heard them on the cb.

I know the reg number but was more interested in why drivers feel it necessary to abuse us for no reason. As I’ve said, if we are causing mayhem for no reason, then fair enough.

Well that’s 99% of the time then so on the balance of probabilities he was right to “gob off” at you I’d say. :smiling_imp:

99% of the time we are causing mayhem because some unprofessional truck driver has crashed his truck. We don’t close roads, crashes close roads.

Carefull this was Big Jases’s logic and you can see what happened to him on the 2 Q’s thread.

Unfortunately Dipper Dave, not all comments on here are constructive. Quite a few of us wombles on here do try and explain the reason why some stuff is done the way it is and we have admitted that, as in all professions, we have the ‘not so good’ working for us. Sorry to say that the majority of drivers who slag us off have never dealt with us on a personal level, so feel they can abuse us all because they have witnessed one of our idiots. It’s a good job I don’t treat all truck drivers like that.

There you go again…thinking you’re important.
As far as i’m concerned, you are about as relevant as a dose of herpes in west africa.

See Dipper Dave, this is exactly what I mean. Where does it suggest I think I’m important? Is this a constructive comment?

Ok then, what would happen if you DID treat lorry drivers"like that"
I suspect you think chaos would ensue…and the road network would grind to a halt without you.
Of course i may be wrong about you…but you sound like the sort of bloke who spends his free time refereeing kids football matches.
I supose what i’m trying to say is,that you enjoy telling people what to do.
Constructive…maybe not
My opinion…oh yes

+1 there mate…though as you are commenting on a womble, itl be a waste of time as they cannon comprehend why they get the abuse and contempt they rightly deserve…just look at all their posts…cabbages with a hi viz sums them up :grimacing:

none so blind as those that will not see…you have no perspective of the reality of your situation or why you all get regarded as you do by most drivers. trucks crash, trucks break down, cars crash etc…but if anyone can kick the ■■■ right out of a situation to absolute ott overkill, its your lot making mountains out of molehills… pompous bean counters, every single 1 :frowning:
