R Hanson and Son Wakefield

That bloke in the picture speaking on a two way radio im sure it’s Jack Gelder,
one of the infamous trail bosses Hanson employed

Just finished this painting, wondered if anyone has any info on this old ERF ?

Is this the Hansons you are thinking of with the AECs & Drawbars. These were once owned by Lord Hanson.(Red livery)
Its amazing what you find on the net    hope its the one you wanted.

JOHN.

The drawbar outfits did London trunk every night running alongside Harrisons of Dewsbury (same type of machines), down one night, return the next. Many’s the time when the top of the load had been loaded too high and the railway bridge at Acworth levelled it off a bit. “Where are you”? “Ackworth”. “Bloody hell, not again” :unamused:
I only speak about Harrisons, I knew a lot of the lads there, I’m sure Hansons never “modified” the load at Ackworth.

Thanks for that mate, The image on here is a little blur as it’s just a photo of the painting, made a nice change from painting Scanias & volvo’s though, May do a series of 8 wheelers, time permitting of course

R Hanson used to ride as a profesional jockey during the flat season in the 60s and he owned several top of the range horse boxs of that time late 50s 60s 70s and were mainly used by Sam Hall at Middleham +several other northern horse trainers .My uncle who drove one of them was Henry Timpson who departed this life many years ago left a picture of one of the boxs .If there is an interest i will attemp to find the picture and post it up here .What i am looking for is any pictures of any horse boxs that Hanson owned and any infowould be appreciated .
