Money ain’t everything mate. Your boss might be one of the really goodun’s and worth foregoing a bit of money for. Only time will tell on that score. Most of us have left a reasonable job to go for one that seems better, I know I have, and then regret it because it’s [zb] work, the boss is a ■■■■■■, or some other reason.
I know. That’s something I won’t understand because all my life I have worked within the family. This is my third job in my whole life and I’m 31. My previous boss was fantastic and so is this one.

Take the Class 1 job. It may lead to a permanent position with the company you’re going to
I concur. Any training being offered - is priceless these days.
It’s a shortage of drivers with the relevant skills that are pushing wages up around the country at the moment.
Container work isn’t hard - but getting trained up on containers is - and there’s plenty of agency work too.
Don’t turn it down out of any kind of insecurity about how much work you’d get.
Agencies (glorified pimps) talk up what they can offer you, but the reality is mostly very different. As an agency driver you’ll be given all the crap work the planners don’t want to give to their permanent drivers. Irregular hours - late starts and late finishes, and unreliable work. You’ll also be using different units all the time which requires an experienced driver who can cope with the differences - you’ll end up having accidents. Plus as you’ll be using another drivers unit you’ll get complained about for things like not refuelling, leaving a footprint on their carpet etc etc.
Find a decent small family run general haulier is my advice.

I booked aa meeting with him on Thursday so I have one day to think about this.
Good thinking, decisions such as these are best made when both parties are sober although I am not quite sure if an AA meeting is the right environment to discuss terms and conditions.
So the story is I quit my class 2 job (something happened) and went and signed up with an agency and today was my container training. It was easy enough. Just the locks on the containers and the slider trailer is a bit confusing. I was already offered a shift today at 5pm which I turned down because I’ve been out from the morning training.
Does anyone have any good videos or instructions on how to operate a slider trailer or some thing?
