Bonnie lass-I would echo what Tango has said earlier.(Blimey,i sound like an episode of the Bill!)
You are obviously an excellent driver IMO and I am sure you will have no problems finding alternative employment.Get some irons in the fire and dump this shower of sh*t of a firm. Nobody wants to go to work in the ‘ideal’ world, may as well work somewhere that at least you are shown some manners and respect.

" can any-one tell me how you would stand…"
I prefer to have a 60/40 stance with the majority bias being on my left side. I did experiment with having my right hand in my pocket for a while, however an emerging fascination with pocket billiards caused problems when out in public.
My current fave is to stand bolt upright with my head at a jaunty angle. Hope this helps.

I know that one. You get to the stage where you feel that you don’t have a life so you merely exist. I would be looking elsewhere.
In the meantime, if they are giving you work to do which is not feasible within your time limits then record everything. Reg number/s, trailer numbers, locations etc etc etc. This could lead to constructive dismissal which is basically them trying to make you quit instead of sacking you which isn’t easy these days.
If they do sack you then you have records to show that the workload placed on you is the problem, not your work. Unfair dismissal!
Whatever happens, keep your nose clean and your tacho cleaner. Make ■■■■ sure that there is no comeback heading your way. Words are meaningless so anything they say should be allowed to pass in one ear and out the other. Let them put things in writing if they want to get your attention and don’t give them any excuse to attack you as a person. No matter what happens, keep your head and don’t let them upset you
I shall be looking elsewhere, although it still leaves the question of why have they started being like this all of a sudden & for no reason of my doing.
I have a gut instinct they are going to be trying to put such work that they hope I will mess up to get a sackable offense.
My tacho is clean and I write down my instructions as warehouse tells me what I have to do. & i keep acurate diary of my own with times , vehicles, movement etc.
I try not to dwell on what their attitude , usually I can shut it out to a large extent, but it must have been niggling in my mind for me to seek out help on the forum. And indeed my sincere thanks to everyone who has come forward to reply.

Thanks for your reply eagerbeaver,
There seems to be a lot of new faces on the yard, & I’ve not seen some that used to be regular. It would be nice to work for a company that treats you fairly.
Driver-Once-More:
Bonnie Lass, you said earlier that they had changed your start time, did they give you that in writing as a material change of contract?
Thanks for your reply driver once more, I used to start an hour & a half earlier. This was changed after Christmas verbally, and I was okay with it as I had been working almost 70 hours every week.

70 hours■■?
Jesus wept Bonnie Lass but thats nearly two bloody weeks every week, ok if you’re raking in £50k and setting yourself up for the future so there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but somehow i doubt that.
For your own sake find a proper job where you’re appreciated, and soon…they do exist.

Bonnie lass, the bit in red is important. If they did not do that, then they have broken the law, also, I think, if I remember rightly, it had to be at least 30 days notice, in writing, of said change.
You’re are in a difficult position, but that’s only going to change by leaving or getting the sack. And one of them is coming soon. And better off you’ll be.
There’s a strong chance work is aware of this thread already. So things aren’t going to get any better. what do you intend to do next time you’re in work?

No there was nothing in writing at the time they altered the start time. Would that be in the original contract which I never signed, if so would it make a difference ?

Thanks for your reply D ya not, yes it’s a difficult position to be in, & through not fault of my own. why when what work was done by me all over last year doing all types of c+e work , why has it suddenly become a problem all of a sudden?
Work my be aware of this thread, however I have not named anyone or the company, & i am entitled to ask for help , advice and to discuss the issues wether it is on a forum or in private. I also do my work properly with good heart & honesty to the best I can. Previous employers have been 100 % happy with my work the years of working for them . I have a sound track record of work history.

Joining a union now probably won’t help; it might come in useful next time you’re getting sacked though.
Everybody joins a union when they’re in the [zb] and the unions are aware of that.
Check the T&Cs because joining a union and then expecting free representation and advice a week later doesn’t usually work out.
Thanks for your reply contraflow, I have never been in this position before , do you happen to know how long you would need to be a union member for broke they act in difficulties?
Have been reading this with interest ,and though I may not come up with anything new bonnie lass ,do you know why the previous TM left ■■ Did your boss force him out to get this new one in ■■? Could you contact him to find out why he left ?Unless you already know that is …
From what you have previously said ,the main boss is good friends with this new TM…and he backs him up.Just keep giving a 100% which may be difficult at times until you find a new job…With your record keeping which now should include all communications they will not have a leg to stand on come an unfair dismissal claim. Tachograph records will show that you couldn’t make the deadlines…If you have a clock on machine, then that will show when you arrived at work…I have a mate at work ,his other half is an employment laywer, will try and see what she says ,no guarantee but I will ask…If he can find out ,would you mind if I sent a pm if she asks questions ?
Looking back I should have cut out the waffle and just said I have a mate Mate was a ate thought, and dam if I was deleting the text it tok 30 mins to write
Late edition ,I also know someone in a bluechip company who works in the closing of contracts etc ,I will also seek here advice

You sound like a decent employee, but that doesn’t explain what you intend to do next time you’re in work
How long have you worked here, did this start when the new TM arrived?

Good question.
I’m a member of Unite and looking through their rule book, I found this -
“The Executive Council shall determine the period of membership necessary prior to the member attaining eligibility for benefits…”
So there is no straight answer forthcoming from Unite, not sure about the others.
Basically, it’s up to them and only joining because you already need their help is unlikely to result in you receiving any help.
