Political discussions...

another screw up by the also rans and labour.

of course being the bbc it doesnt mention that is lib dems and labour in charge. Dont worry though they took immediate steps to correct the breach after three whole days.

dont worry once we have id cards that will all stop because the fake directors will check to see if these people have them

Doesn’t look a well person , maybe time to put her out of her misery , don’t like the commies but not nice to see anyone suffering

This is very concerning , I’d of thought it would be at the top of there list of priorities, another failure on there part

Give it a few years and we could have classroom full of little greta,s

Five-year-olds to be taught climate change under Labour

Government will introduce citizenship course for primary schools including lessons on global warming and saving money

Oh dear, oh dear, it can’t possibly be true can it? A Reform council closing care homes and potential sleaze. You can take the people out of the Party, but you can’t take the self serving values of the ex Filthy Party members out of the people.

Yeah?

Talking of ‘ The Filth’ ….(the socialist variety this time)

In other news more shear incompetence in the labour Party.

Lammy having his buffoon status confirmed in question time when it comes about another illegal immigrant scumbag sex offender has been released from jail by mistake along with a con man ‘‘on his watch’’

Seems Lammy knew more about it than he was letting on.

Is there no end to their out of their depth ineptitude?

Never mind…..’’They ain’t as bad as The Tories’‘ :joy:

Just hours after Sky News revealed a prisoner was on the run after being mistakenly released from HMP Wandsworth, the prison admits they have a second escapee…

It can possibly be true in a system that allows infiltration and standing under a false flag of convenience to get the Reform vote.Vote Reform get free marketeer Tories. Many of who then go running back to their true colours after getting the vote.

what is it this time… reform closing a care home that isnt fit for purpose ie doing what they are supposed to do. bit like not resurfacing a bit of road that is perfectly fine

I sincerely hope you never have to suffer the experience of a family member requiring either home or residential care long term.

If you had actually read the article rather than prematurely ■■■■■■■■■■■ like before, then you might have realised that Reform is planning to close five care homes (and five day care centres) in favour of moving residents into the private sector; and, to put it politely, there is a conflict of interest regarding the cabinet member responsible for social care because he and his wife own a private care company.

Likewise the article on the hill - fairly local to both of us, if you had read it and the comments you would have gleaned that this has been an occasional long standing issue, made worse by the installation of traffic lights, against all advice, in the dip at the bottom of a valley between two roughly 1in7 hills. I can use this road anything up to six times a day so know what to expect and how to deal with it if necessary. Default mode of attacking or insulting the poster rather than the content prevailed however.

If you have ever had any dealings with KCC Highways or HM Planning Inspectors you would know that common sense is often missing from their decisions. So to have the Reform cabinet member for Highways dismiss the issue out of hand, without any apparent prospect of a further site inspection, merely exhibits an attitude of complete arrogance towards those living in the County who are affected.

As a further example of KCC Highways thinking, we are now in week 3 of a notified 5 week closure of the A229 Maidstone to Hurst Green Road at The Wheatsheaf Junction. KCC are responsible for deciding what roadsigns are required for the diversion and their placement. In spite of having had some 11 weeks practice during a closure in the Spring, the signage is still inadequate for strangers to the area. Some signs indicating an unsutable road for diverting traffic are placed so that they can only be read after turning into a road, but the prime example is at Linton cross roads. Approaching from the South: straight ahead shows road closed, Left Turn indicates Unsuitable and Right Turn? ….Unsuitable. The contractors are merely acting upon instructions.

Well I actually have, my mother.

So if you also have I can relate to it and sympathise.

Thing is though as for this case, and as I keep telling ‘‘my mate’‘ on here, MPs, councillors, and politicians in general (and of all parties and persuasions) are basically all the same in different ways…..(if that ain’t a paradox)

They are mostly in it all for themselves after promising the earth…..so why is it a surprise?

The ‘‘Type’’ of people they usually and actually are should disqualify them for running for office imo.:joy:

I know I constantly condemn them on here, but only in the context to counteract the naive and deluded on here who think certain ones can do no wrong.

All you can do to decide who to vote for is try and cut through all their b/s and decide which is the ‘‘least worst’‘of em all.

Thanks for your kind words Rob and my sympathy to you as well. Yes, it is a nightmare I shall not forget, but in my case it was not a parent but my dear Mother in Law of whom I was very fond. However that said it is not the same as losing your own Mother to the greed of the private care home corporations.

The battles are just the same though, be they with trying to get any NHS nursing funding at all, or getting the home disregarded from the estate. Worse in some ways is seeing their realisation through the confusion of dementia, that the little they have managed to save is going to be eaten up at the rate of around £6000 to £8000 every four weeks, while at the same time the care home refuse to renew a sjit and vomit stained, threadbare carpet.

My own parents died 31 and 53 years ago, mercifully without that struggle. By coincidence my and my wife’s parents were married within 10 days of each other, and both widows survived their partner by over 20 years.

Incidentally I agree with the rest of your post.

Thanks mate…

My Mam went into care in June, my Dad tried his hardest to continue caring for her, but it was too much, he was more or less told she had to go in a home.

I get down to see her every wek,.and she is worse every visit.

My Mrs has had to jump through hoops to get my Dad some financial assistance the cost is around 1300 a week.

She managed to get him help but only from Aug….don’t ask me why, so my Dad has had to pay for the rest, and he now has to pay around a third or so a week, but most comes out of my Mam’s pension and she has qualified for pension credit.

This boils my water when I see people who should not even be here in the first place get absolutely everything catered for foc,.while my Dad who has contributed to the system his whole working life, and served his country in the Navy

One of the reasons all this pi55 take with bogus asylum seekers who are in reality economic migrants at our expense is my pet hate.

Meanwhile more comedy from our National Broadcasting co and their laughable woke agenda.

Someone gets pulled up for editing a news report from ‘‘pregnant people’‘ to ‘‘pregnant women’‘.:joy::joy:

Why tf do I pay money to these idiots?

A good clean out and a few replacements at the top are needed, the organisation is infested with woke lefties.

I am very sorry to hear that you and your family are going through this dreadful experience at the moment, it is a minefield with the council always taking advantage of the patient’s family not knowing the system. The Filthies renaged on a promise to cap care home fee contributions at IIRC £80,000. This makes me very angry indeed as does the illegals entitlement.

It sounds like your Mrs has been on the ball and working wonders. There are many pitfalls, we had a NIP from the DWP because ‘Mum’ had exceeded IIRC 15 days transfer to Hospital, without notifying them of the dates, which meant her attendance allowance should have been repaid to them.

The only two things I can immediately recall off the top of my head are: 1) discuss with mum and dad and siblings about a Lasting Power of Attorney, not having one makes things very, very difficult, and 2) date stamp with day of the week every letter you receive and file them, the ■■■■■■■■ use 2nd class post and then give you 7 days to reply.

Yeah it’s an embarrasment and a disgrace the way our old people are treated,.any way the state can get away with contributing the minimum help.and assustance, they do so, and care home weekly fees are ridiculous… but on the other hand hostile criminals and freeloaders from other countries are given everything at the drop of a hat….

In your article it says closing those particular care homes could save around 5 million, how many million are spent in ‘‘caring’‘ for illegal immigrants in Lancs ? Keep the care homes and ■■■■ those lot off.

….(I don’t know how much, but no doubt a certain person will provide a link to rubbish my claim from an apologist and justification pov )

Why is the same sense of responsibility not applied to our own people, that attitude is not racist it is logic.

Yeah my Mrs is very astute at stuff like this, she has a good polite telephone manner, is tactful, and has far more patience than I have, she still has not given up and is trying to get payments back dated for my Dad,.and she has the power of Attorney thing sorted..

Thanks for what you said anyway mate.:+1:

For what it’s worth and from my experience, getting power of attorney in place for both health and financial matters for elderly parents is an absolute must. It will save a whole lot of potential problems now and when the inevitable happens. Nobody needs unnecessary stress and hassle whilst caring for or when losing a loved one.

I agree entirely with the points you have made above. What makes me furious is the contention that we can’t make the super rich pay more for the benefit of everyone because they might leave the country, and then they blackmail the country by saying that would mean a net loss in tax revenue. As far as I am concerned then they can ■■■■ off because they are likely to be investors mentioned in the link.

Bravo to your Mrs, it is hard sometimes being the supporting partner in these situations where a slightly more distant emotional attachment can actually help in the battle with the system. What follows I’m sure will enfuriate you.

While I accept that all businesses need to make a profit the practice surrounding those who have to pay for their care is scandalous. The local authority is given a very substantial discount by the care home companies for the care of those who cannot pay. This discount is then recovered from those who do have to pay for their care. They then attempt to justify this practice by claiming that full occupancy allows the discount and that self-funders otherwise would have to pay even more without this underhand practice.

I urge those who just skim through this thread to take the trouble to read this link it may well affect your family.

Due to worsening dementia my wife’s late father went into an extra care facility.

One day he fell and lay on the floor for eight hours waiting for an ambulance as the care staff were not trained to lift people from floor level.

He was totally bedbound for the last twelve months of his life, even forgot how to eat so all his food had to be liquidised and he had to be spoon fed.

After a long struggle my wife managed to get some financial assistance from the local authority, but they didn’t really want the responsibility and she was told to apply to the NHS to take over his care.

He died on a Saturday evening and on the Monday we got a letter confirming that the NHS were going to take over his care!!

The annoying part was that my wife’s brother is a senior Social Services manager (in another area) but virtually refused to get involved in even advising her on the best way forward.

You can pick your friends but not your relations !!!
