can’t work out what thats got to do with the original post as there is no hard shoulder where this accident happened and looking at the pics posted the police and i would say highways agency and not vosa where protecting lane 1 for a broken down vehicle, which can happen to any of us on any due carridgeway in the country

no highways agency in scotland, the police would have shut lane 1

What about the Amey Highway Incident Support Units?

depends on if a unit was available at that time

Greggs the bakers?

The two cops concerned had stopped to assist the Beemer which had broken down on the inside lane of the west bound dual carriageway at a particularly crappy spot…on the bend with nowhere to get of the way of following traffic. One lane therefore effectively blocked totally. The 7.5 tonner with the trailer ran into the back of the cop car wiping it out, trailer broke off and truck ended up on opposite eastboiund carriageway in lane 2 facing the oncoming traffic.

Thankfully no one killed or badly injured but it could have been so much worse, let’s be honest.

I travel this road daily and it’s usually fairly busy/fast moving. It was snowing lightly at the time of the accident.
