To be fair to the coppers, they get assessed with targets to meet just like everyone else so they are under pressure for the “Collar” I find fault with the system that is in place to pressure them with a points mean prizes attitude. They probably have leader boards with who has handed out the most nip’s and they are in line for promotions.
They also I am sure don’t like stopping on the hard shoulder either as they know more than anyone how easy it is to be killed in such a situation, but it’s part of the job.
I think to do those types of jobs, traffic police, recovery & them nutters that run across live lanes with road signs (danger money?) you have to become immune to the danger to a certain extent or you would become a nervous wreck.
Cant really see what the issue is here, are OAP exampt from stopping for police and can just carry on regardless?
You would all be moaning if an OAP held you up for a few seconds or turned accross you at a junction why shouln’t they have the same laws as everyone els
The doors were locked so the have to smash the window
The doors were locked so the have to smash the window
The police never even tried the door the copper just went in with a weapon and started smashing the window whilst another climbed on the bonnet.
It’s this kind of incident that shows what the police are really about.
Nothing more than legalised yob behaviour in my opinion, until this type of incident is dealt with correctly by sacking the yobs in uniform the police will always receive the amount of respect they deserve … NONE!!
My advice when dealing with the police would be to not wind them up, especially having committed an offence. At least these guys had the decency to film their “rumbustiousness”. What if the next copper you antagonise has returned from active duty in the Middle East or wherever, gone into the police and just needs the right conditions to trigger the latent PTSD?

They tried the door when he shot off before the chase and IIRC injured one officer, this guy was off his rocker
Range rover doors lock automatically so would have been locked
Can you blame them for wanting to get him out before he set off again and killed a few then possibly mowed down a few pedestrians how would you feel if they just stood there and watched him drive off and then kill your family
Don’t think you would feel so sorry for him then
His age has nothing to do with it he is a dangerous criminal

During his escape he reached the dizzy speed of 42 mph and drove in a manner that would not have attracted police attention in any other circumstances, the only criminals in that video are the police.
The fact that the doors may have locked automatically is irrelevant because the police never even gave the bloke a chance to unlock them, and if they really thought the bloke might make a run for it what was the purpose of jumping on the cars bonnet, surely that’s the last place you’d want to be if you thought the car was going to speed off
It’s estimated that little escapade by the police cost the tax-payer over £28,000 in compensation, that’s £28,000 that we have to pay just because some idiots couldn’t restrain there own behaviour.
As I said the police will never get respect from the public whilst they behave like that and then deny any wrong doing.
Not sure how you can say the police have no respect for the public when there who job revolves around protecting the public, just by being a police officer they are showing a level of respect for society and the law
I have always wondered how to deal with a high value load ?
When I pulled Brandy for Gilbey Vinters all those years ago we were instructed not to stop for anyone ! If a police car was trying to stop us we were told to keep going till we reached a police station or a group of police cars. I wonder how the police would react if I just carried on driving to such a place ?
There was an incident a few months back here where a DOT cop tried to stop me on I-91 in CT and I kept going to a rest area 3 miles down the road, he asked me why I refused to stop and I explained that I didn’t consider it safe, he thought about it and agree’d.

You didn’t watch the video then?
In my experience the police are actually fairly balanced, I have met some decent coppers who will take the time to help (one once pulled me for having no tail-lights, he said he just wanted to stop me so I knew and could get them fixed) others I have met clearly think the public are cattle and treat us as such.

Smashing the window is standard procedure when stopping a possible stolen car, its a shock tactic to disorientate the driver. The guy drove off or didnt stop whichever i’m not sure but as far as the cops were concerned it was a fail to stop, you dont drive off from Police for no reason. As far as the Police knew it was stolen, drunk driver, drug runner etc, how the hell do they know its a 71 year old driving.
I dont agree with the kicking in the windscreen but smashing the drivers window is fair game
When Bond Delivery operated out of Paddock Wood carrying cigarettes, the nearside sun visor was much larger than usual in their TKs. When flipped down it read in large letters:
“I will follow you to the nearest Police Station”.
This topic made me smile. I raised the concern about stopping on the hard shoulders some time ago here, and everyone jumped at me with traditional anti-Polish rant, to cut the long story short, yous don’t care that no other countries do that, British do it, and this is good way to do it because its British.
And now it seems that I was right and it it actually dangerous

The police are a waste of space mate. Everyone has a right to go about their lawful business without interuption, even if its by the police. They do not have a right to inconvinience anyone. Given the circumstances and possible misinterpretation they could have followed him without asking for help, he was hardly endangering anyone. But no, they got ‘assistance’, what a waste of rescources.
I liked the ones who just recently arrested a woman who was having a stroke for suspected drunk driving, even though a medic at the scene said she shows all the symptoms of having a stroke. Thats how stupid and single minded they are. I wouldn’t give them the time of day.
Never forget, they’re supposed to work for you not the government, who also are supposed to work for you !!!

Nope, that’s £28k that I’ve had to pay towards because some arrogant prick wouldn’t do as he was told. NOT the police’s fault at all.

You can’t tar the all forces with the same brush because of one officer, not all officers are ‘stupid and single minded’. Either way it’s your opinon and your free to say what you please.
By the way, all workers pay tax, like the police do. So that makes them self employed

Sorry to hear that your now out of pocket of 28k.You must have a well paid job!!!, don’t tell me, let me guess…you work for stobarts?

The police settled out of court for a reason
The problem is that when people choose to defend the police who behave in that manner things can only get worse, like I said they should have been kicked out of the police force to set an example for anyone else who chooses to abuse their power in that way.

hardly
By we obviously I meant the taxpayer, of which I assume you’re one … £28,000+ well spent ?
Anyway I’m pleased to see that even the police on this board are not trying to defend those idiots in the video, there’s hope for us all yet
