Can the driver refuse and insist on driving on to an exit. We know how dangerous the hs is.

Yes, you can refuse.
You just need to show you are aware they wish you to stop and indicate your preferred stopping place to them, they will take it from there. Extend your arm out of the window, make a fist, then hold up the first two fingers if you wish to follow them to a service station or just hold up the second finger if you want to go to the next exit.
Thankyou.

Don’t think we’re talking of a check here, I think he means when you’ve been naughty
Probably best to do what they say, else you may get stingered and choppered.
Remember a few years back a Maxi driver with a T decker on the back wouldn’t stop for dibble on the motorway and he ended up getting all his tyres stung and about 6 cop cars on his tail. Don’t know what the score was but I bet he wasn’t flavour of the month after that.
this wasn’t on the hard shoulder, but this link goes to show what sort of tossers work as police nowadays.

Didn’t need a 2 year old video to show that, we all know what ‘they’ are.

This is the kind of country we live in, pensioners having their cars smashed up and them beaten up for something as pathetic as not wearing a seatbelt, and a truck driver persecuted and fined for eating his lunch…
All police officers who partake in pathetic and meaningless “crime” solving should be ashamed of themselves. Get out there and solve some real crimes, walk the beat and deter real criminals instead of sitting on your backsides going for easy targets, A policeman used to be someone to respect and look up too, no longer, its someone to laugh and and pity for their worthless job, Police officers are becoming criminals in their own right, they just have the law behind them to let them get away with things.

well it was on the news this morning, the investigation appears to have been done.
funny that, if it was one of us smashing up a police car, we would be in court within days, when it’s the other way round, it takes years.

In the coppers defence, he did refuse to stop. I’d have been pretty ■■■■■■ too, a total lack of respect for the authorities.
Ok, maybe they went over the top, but if someone in a 4x4 is refusing to stop, then it could be stolen or anything, so if that was my car the scum bag had nicked, I’d want him stopping.
And the police paid out over 20k in compo for PTSD?? BULL ■■■■, the guy should’ve been put in prison or at least banned for life and laughed out of court.
Hardly ‘dragged out of his car’
I was stopped in my van, on the hard shoulder about 5 years ago because the man wanted to check my insurance details. He claimed that my motor trader’s policy did not cover me for ‘commuting’ from the agency job I was doing that day. When I contacted my broker, he called the officer an ignoramus. The Insurance company was contacted by the Police from the hard shoulder and told all was in order, but he wasn’t having it, insisting on giving a producer for it. We were only 1 mile from an exit with a layby 20 yards off the roundabout. When the man had finished, I told him that I objected to being put in danger for something that could so easily have been dealt with in a safer location. He wasn’t interested, so I asked him for his rank and number. On reflection later, as this was a junction with an exit only, he didn’t like the idea of having to drive for two miles off the motorway to get back on it in the same direction. I decided not to complain for risk of being targetted.

as it happens, he did stop, and he drove off while they were issuing a ticket. but that bit wasn’t on the video. so what attitude did the copper have to make the driver feel like he had to do a runner?

Probably a professional one, the guy’s a fat ■■■■ in a Range Rover, usually the most arrogant of all motorists.
If he stopped, and was being issued a ticket, then why drive off??
Then, refused to stop again, got stingered, still sat there with doors locked, so of course they broke in.
The guy was a moron in my opinion.
edited to add
I’ve dealt with a few coppers who I’ve thought were thick as pig ■■■■, jumped up little hitlers etc, BUT never any that were anything but professional.
I’ve dealt with more good coppers than bad in my time.
But have been pulled off coppers for ‘going too quick’ with ‘you were doing around 60 - 70mph’… One even carried on with ‘you’ve got a number plate light out’… No I haven’t, my car tells me if I’ve got any bulbs out, let me just check, oh look, they’re working… ‘yeah, but it’s dim…’
One copper, one morning, I was on my way to work around 4ish, got pulled off a police fiesta diesel (marked up car), and he asked if I was in a rush?? I said if I was, he’d be nowhere near me (BMW 530d 193bhp), they then kept me there for just under 10 mins doing checks etc, then I said, I’m in a rush now, because you’re making me late for work. They let me go ‘with a warning’
he was 71, was probably ■■■■■■■■ himself, due to the arrogance of these thugs, so drove off in a panic.

BULL ■■■■. He was probably drugged up or ■■■■■■ looking at the ■■■■■
How often have you been pulled, reading your stories it’s every 12hrs or so… Has a copper ever really made you feel ‘scared for your life’ as that’s how you’d have to feel to drive off when pulled.
Can’t believe the ■■■■■■ got paid £20k of our money, tempted to smash his range rover in myself now
A few years ago I got stopped on the M1 between junctions 37 and 36 by the Police for a tacho check and a VOSA inspection! It was snowing like hell and luckily I had cleaned my lights etc at Barnsley where I had tipped so they were fine, made me laugh though because the copper was sitting in my warm(ish) cab chatting about nothing in particular and the VOSA guy was laid in all the slush tapping around underneath and came out like a snowman! Couldn’t understand why they didn’t take me to the checkpoint at junction 36 though? Seemed a very dangerous procedure to me.
Pete.
Well while were on this subject what is classed as a high vaule load and how to do drive to the nearest police station with out been stingered or beaten? my boss wouldn’t mind the beaten part but he might object to the phone call saying he needs new tyres on the truck
