in fact lets start a trend, when you see one beside you pretend your opening your door to give them the fright of there life

Just guessing but I suppose it could be this remark.
I assumed, generously, that you were simply kidding about but perhaps SB thought you were serious, after some of the posts recently I can understand why he may.

Aahh i see.then you would be right del with your assumption, thank you.no one in there right mind would do what i said with tounge in cheek but the fact that slack bladder thought a professinal hgv driver would do such a thing just shows how far up his own ■■■■ pipe he really is.i was making light of the stupid remarks being said by the pro bike side.the very simple fact is if you want to use the road way you should pay accordingly.what annoys people is the high and mighty attitude of a ■■■■■■ in lycra who thinks because he or she is on the road then we should all stop.if a gimp in lycra hit my car id either want his teeth on a necklace to let other two wheeled warriors know what happens if you dont pay up or they pay for the damage.sorry for the rant but weak bladder has annoyed me

Cyclists do pay for the roads, of cours, as roads are funded from general taxation and bikes are rated at zero for VED purposes. But obviously, you knew that and are simply still on a wind up.

Rikki-UK:
Cyclist are responsible for their actions, if they do something stupid and damage your vehicle. and you can prove it, you can sue them, the only difference insurance would make is who signs the cheque you would get.

This is all very well but if a bike hits your car and keeps going how you gonna track him down.

Maybe you should have put one of your stupid " lol" on the end, then people would know if you were a proper moron or just pretending. It’s all a great laugh until someone does it, and yes, it does happen. Maybe I’m in the minority on here but I just don’t find the idea of injuring someone on purpose funny.

We can discuss this forever and so can the lycra brigade and Boris. BUT, no matter what safety measure you put in place the best one is getting the cyclist to be responsible for their own actions and be prepared for others bad actions.
Every clip you see of them shows them riding down the nearside of vehicles who MAY turn left.
I realise that the driver who does not signal a left turn is responsible in such cases but it is not him that is dead!
So far cyclist have managed to add a couple of mirrors to vehicles, repeater indicators and cycle guards etc. to trucks, soon to come if they have their way are proximity sensors.
With all these safety measure introduced the death toll is rising, surely anyone can see that the problem can only be solved by the cyclists themselves.
If, as it seems to be proposed, HGV’s are banned during the daytime in London (possibly other busy cities will follow)then as sure as day follows night the costs will go up for everyone.
Why should everyone, including the little old lady on a pension who has never ridden a cycle, be charged more to satisfy the cyclists.
It’s all very good to say that such and such a number of cyclist have died in collisions with HGV’s but that is meaningless if we are not told whose fault the collision was, for example , the bridge jumper this weekend, if had succeeded in his original plan would have been a pedestrian dying after a collision with a HGV, a completely meaningless and misleading statistic.
