PJK TRANSPORT

routier:
when were you there for PJK? a guy i know used to work there, Andy weldon is his name

Did he work for Avanti after PJK

No, not that I know of. he also worked for Norman Offer

My memory has gone, although his name is familiar. I knew many PJK drivers, Chris Barton with the Centurion who had been there for a long time, Geordie Billy, Henry & Mary, I knew Steve very well who used to worked as a mechanic for L.S.C and left to go to P.J.K and also a lad with a green Scania left ■■■■■■ with red stripe who subbied for PJK etc but its all faces after that!

I also remember some L.S.C drivers
Old Chris who was a right grumpy old c**t and moaned about anything he could think of, he was funny though (drove a L.H.D F12 Globe then Magnum) a good lad called Graham from the west country, who set fire to a load of iceberg lettuce on the old Pamplona to Irun road… hee hee! and another lad called Paul Beasant? from Bristol who went on to do something making greetings cards.

At Buzby’s i remember lad called Gooj (Good, Old Odd, Job) who worked as a yard man then as a driver for Buzby.

I have worked it out now that in 1989 I was doing Ralph Davies work for IBM computers from Greenock to Barcelona for Jimmy Lister, (JB Lister Transport from Consett, Co Durham). who owned a black Ex Ralph Davies 142 (reg number NOX something). We double manned at Christmas 89 trying to get back for new year and I caught chickenpox at Almeria… and was very ill.

In this time I met Keith Barrett (Red Rose International ) who told me about PJK, so I guess my first (Ice Cream) trip for PJK must have been early 1990.

I then got to Know Les Slater (L.S.Commercials, Southampton) where PJK and John Davies used to get their Trucks repaired & serviced.

At this time they all seemed to be sharing the work with each other, and I worked for all of them, invoicing them each month and eventually ended up working for PJK full time.

I remember when the Spanish driver strikes were on (1992-93?) PKJ kept me out there to make shop delivries to McDonalds Burger Bars in southern Spain!! (for a bit of extra cash!)

Ive lost touch with everyone now, thats why i am on here, just to see whats going on!

I think thats probably Steve Coffin ( mechanic and good guy  ) Chris Sparks ( grumpy  , but a nice guy) Graham, ( was it Hall? not sure  . ) Ex Red Rose and Eric Vick long time before that. Top bloke :sunglasses:

Nothing to do with Rodanto. Only connections were we used to deliver there sometimes and Keith " Mappo" Mapson left PJK and went to work there for a short spell in one of the first 500 Super Space cab Daf’s :sunglasses: , didnt like it and left and I think came back to PJK.
Nice trucks though and always big stuff :sunglasses: . Used to do all the markets around England, Scotland and Wales
