I stopped commenting because this is supposed to be a thread for folk to post pics of lorries they own, and it had become seriously de-railed by discussion about remoulded tyres.
Perhaps somebody could start a new thread to discuss remoulded tyres, should they wish to, and a moderator could remove all of the non-relevant posts on this thread, including this one?

Perhaps we could have a ‘pictures of remoulded tyres’ thread too?

Well maybe it’s sime to sign out of this place for good, threads twist & turn, go quiet & get resurected with some relevant & some none relevant comments & (I think) this is part of what makes them interesting. I’m a member of 6 or 7 forums & regularly comment on only two but if the mod’s are going to start removing posts because they aren’t 100% relevant to the title of the thread I’m deffo gonna sign out for good.
What next fer christs sake, you can only post if wearing a hard hat?? I need a drink!!!

Well, that’s your choice of course, but I think Harry does have a very valid point.
Let’s just suppose you weren’t aware of this topic…
Let’s also suppose that you come to this forum looking for some info on remoulded tyres…
Would you honestly know that you need to look at a topic with the title “Pictures of the lorries you OWN” to find that kind of info… seriously■■? (Maybe you need the info in a hurry?)
Maybe you’d just put a general post called ‘where to find info on remoulded tyres?’ but wouldn’t you doubt the sanity of the person who puts a link to a topic called “Pictures of the lorries you OWN” in an effort to help you? or maybe after lots of fruitless browsing wouldn’t you at least begin to wonder what the hell was going through our minds with haphazard random posts all over the place?
There are two sides to every coin, but let’s be fair, doesn’t there need to be some kind of order about the place?
Well Mr Diesel as its now become The Harry Monk forum I guess He does have a point, its all about flow really on a thread like this I thought, Monk posted about His tyres blowing did He not? Anyone whose thinking of running part worn remoulds on a mid lifts lift should’nt be allowed to post on here & should certainly not be allowed to operate a lorry, imho of course. This is’nt a pop at Harry Monk btw I’m just stating facts really, I wished Him all the best on His venture & hope He does well in the future and hope He heeds the warnings of remoulds in a single tyre application…

You’ve started a thread on most other things recently Harry so why not one on remoulds , your nailed to the floor most trips I imagine pulling for Gregorys, probably Coke down & milk back so why on earth would you be thinking of running remoulded tyres? your on traction work & only have 3 axles worth to pay for so why scrimp & scrape?

Good to hear that Harry total false economy.
I’m not sure I agree with that. There’s no doubt in my mind that cheap remoulds are a false economy but I’m seeing more and more wagons now with good quality bead to bead retreads on them, including my own unit which has Michelin Remixes on the drive axle. So far they are wearing well and looking like they’ll last just as long as the first life Bridgestones that they replaced.
I’m also seeing a lot of bulkers with Michy Remix super singles on the trailers. Not sure if I’m that brave though.
Each to their own I guess, but when good quality tyres are starting to creep close to £400 each you need to explore all the options.

If that’s your experince fair enough I was just going on mine and the amount I’ve had let go luckily on tippers with heavy steel mudguards so no damage like Harry’s.
My dad ran tippers for many years and wouldn’t put one on he reconed the cost of losing a good tyre every now and again was out weighed by whole life costs across the truck.
Appoligies to the thread diversion police.
fly sheet:
this was mine too it says John Cooper on it are we back on thread yet?
Actually John you’re going off at a tangent mate, this is a forum for “lorries you own” not lorries with your name on the front, but if we’re going ‘off topic’, (I’m apparently a master at it) here’s a Volvo with my name on the front.
This was in 1988 after having my windscreen smashed by striking drivers in Pamplona, pic taken in my yard in Lydiate.
just one other thing, harry has only just put the unit on the road, so money is quite possabley tight for the first few week’s, i can’t picture him picture him picking up the truck, seeing it has remoulds/retread’s etc, and sending it in to the garage for tyres’ that have life left in them although they are remould’s, to have x amount of new tyre’s fitted… would you do that?
