Driving your armchair is much safer and warmer John

Had a Slovenian lad pulled up at the top of our track this morning. I told him he was at the wrong place, the best place to turn round and directions to the right place.
About an hour and he’s back, but coming down our track. It’s ploughed but basically hard packed snow, ok for 4 x 4 s and tractors only. He was adamant he was at the right place, even though it’s my place so I knew he wasn’t and that our address had been given a few times recently for some ebay plant sales :unamused:
It took me an hour to turn him round and drag him out, he was very nervous in snow and would never make a tipper driver.

Hiya… this photo was taken in 1982. i was going to get my truck in Buxton. it stayed where it was. there,s no trick with
the photo, there,s on place where the snow blows off the feild and dumps on the road . theres only a couple of inches on
the grass where it dosn,t matter but look at the road the snow is as high as the telephone wires about 20 ft of snow.

John

I forget where this picture came from so apologies in advance if someone on here owns it…I do know it was taken in 1978 but not where.

thats brilliant with the slow plough stuck.

here’s me this morning…

this is them trying to dig out some sort of path for me to get on a far bay.

now whats annoying me is… your damned if you do and damned if you dont. this have already admitted they will help me on the bay but il have to get myself off again. they have on container thats been here for 24 hrs. if i refuse to go on a bay i will be in trouble and if i do go on and get stuck il be in trouble.

here’s one from earlier this year…

if they get you onto the bay, take thier shovel from them or use your own (you should have one with you) and while their unloading you instead of sitting in the cab dig yourself out

simples really

‘Crazytrucker’
Nearly died of hypothermia up in Linlithgow a few years ago when the night heater packed up, -18, not sure F or C, but was bloody cold!
I was 13 in ‘63’, lived out in the sticks then, school bus couldn’t or didn’t want to get through for three weeks, 2 steep hills in and out of village. 6-8 foot drifts, freezing cold but had a high old time, feel sick thinking about it now, snow loses all appeal once you start work. Funny though, the school bus couldn’t make it through but the egg man came to collect mum’s hens eggs most days, and the feed men got through, and the postman, and the milkman etc, we didn’t starve!

I’m pretty sure that if this happened today the 24hour news channels would actually explode with excitement.

Was actually thinking last night, why do tv companies insiston sending reporters to Gatwick to report it being shut, or send them in to the middleof the highlands to show how bad it is, why not do it from the bleedin studio.
Strange how now less than 2 inches of snow can bring Buxton to a halt,■■■■ bit more than that now.

[In response to Hammer]

That could help… all that hot air released.
