Hopefully I’ll be going back to a lorry with a three-pointed star on the grille.
And now he has. Swapped depots, and I’ve since been knocking about in this M-B Actros 2546LS. It has 16 speed manual Telligent 'box and drives like a dream despite having covered over 520,000km. Not bad for a motor under three years old.

Don’t really want to change it. It’s great. Feels tight and goes well. Maybe I’d swap it for a 600hp V8 MegaSpace!!
It pulls better up hills than the Volvo 440 as long as you keep it singing. Let the revs drop and the Volvo will leave it for dead. Drive it the way it was meant to be driven and it’s a good pulling motor.
Was out in it Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and even though it’s not a MegaSpace, it’s so more user-friendly than an FH Globetrotter. Volvo aren’t bad as such. But I do prefer the Merc.

mercs are slow.
Mine too. DAFs are pretty easy prey!!
We got one coming next week on demo. A dual-fuel XF that runs on LPG. They are trying to find some poor sod to drive it. ‘Don’t look at me’, I told 'em when they mentioned it!!
Yeah they are slow. Mine will do 54 mph according to GPS.
I’m talking about the the conversion that adds gas to improve combustion . we have over here cng which is compressed natural gas and this is the only fuel they use though they start on diesel and they lack power. interesting to hear your feed back. a month will pass quickly so either way it should be interesting.
